individual, republican-aligned donors spending double that of democrat-aligned donors in us midterms
(polls not reflecting this)

ALT This infographic illustrates the funding sources for the 2026 US midterm elections. It presents a pie chart divided into three segments: $832 million from Democratic-aligned top donors, $1.67 billion from Republican-aligned top donors, and $264 million from special interest or bipartisan top donors. Notable individuals and organizations are depicted with their contributions. Key figures include George Soros, Charles Koch, and Elon Musk. The chart also notes a total contribution of $2.77 billion from the top 50 donors.

Alex Pretti's father: Our son was shot and killed by the government, federal immigration agents, on January 24th, 2026. We learned about his death from the media as we saw him being shot repeatedly in the back after helping a woman from his community. This was not a protest that Alex was at. His hands were in the air, and his face was on the ground when he was executed by ICE agents. We know exactly what our eyes saw. No one from the federal government called us on that day. But they did go on TV to tell lies about Alex. No one has called us since. No one has recanted those lies.
The murder of an innocent US citizen by a federal government agent—multiple guns shots to the back as he lay prone and restrained on the ground—deserves immediate justice.
What is Todd Blanche hiding? And why is he hiding it from the state of Minnesota?

“Congress is preoccupied with the Nov. 3 election, but Mr. Trump may not appreciate the anger he’s courting if he keeps aiding Mr. Putin. When the election is over there needs to be a bipartisan reckoning for Mr. Trump’s budding alliance with the Kremlin against Ukraine, Europe and American interests.”
Amen.

This side profile of one of the Upper West Side barn owls perched near a street light shows off the bird’s beautiful smoky gray, brown and gold colors. I particularly love the look of the spots on its wings and back.

Today, there was a statement from the President of the United States that an energy ceasefire has been secured. This is good news for everyone – and it is important that it become reality.
Unfortunately, Ukrainian skies have been infested with Russian “shaheds” all day today. There have been glide bomb strikes and strikes on our energy infrastructure too. A power plant in Kharkiv was attacked this evening.
Overall, this past week alone, the Russians have carried out more than 200 strikes on our electricity generation and transmission facilities in Ukraine, and another 17 strikes this week targeted gas and oil facilities. They have killed more than 150 of our people, and more than 700 people have been wounded.
Ukraine has proposed many de-escalatory steps. Putin had one answer to all of them – “nyet.” We do hope that he will finally say something to America, Ukraine, and the entire world that will lead to a real and dignified peace.
Ukraine wants peace. The question is whether Russia does. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have received all the appropriate orders. We are awaiting clear details of the dialogue between America and Russia – and we expect Putin to follow through on what President Trump said.

Richard Nixon was once asked whether the Russians could be trusted.
In response, he quoted the distinguished Italian diplomat Manlio Brosio, who had served for many years as Ambassador to Moscow and later as Secretary General of NATO. According to Nixon, Brosio said: “I know the Russians. They are liars. They are great actors. They are cheats. And they lie and play their roles because they believe it is their duty. They cannot be trusted.”
But Nixon’s own words were even more telling: “We don't have to convince them that we're for peace. They know that. We have to convince them they cannot win a war. And once we do that, the basis is set for negotiation that will be responsible on both sides.”
More than forty years have passed. Yet this approach remains as relevant as ever.
Today, as the world seeks a path towards a just and lasting peace, Russia must receive a clear message: continuing its aggression will bring it no benefits.
That is why the US decision to allow transactions involving Russian diesel fuel raises serious concerns.
Every easing of economic pressure on Russia, without genuine steps towards ending its aggression, gives it additional opportunities to finance the war.
I share the position of President of Ukraine @ZelenskyyUa: “Gifts to Putin will not bring peace or any benefit to the civilised world. Russia will “repay” the diesel with further terror and perfidy. Allowing Russia to sell petroleum products is an investment in a war that must be ended, not prolonged. What is needed is real de-escalation with Russia on a reciprocal basis.”
I call on our American partners to reconsider the decision regarding Russian diesel.
No barrels of Russian diesel are worth even a single gram of blood. Human blood. Ukrainian blood.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has the overwhelming support of the United States Congress, he has the overwhelming support of the American people, and he has the overwhelming support of the Ukrainian people. Russian illegally invaded Ukraine, a sovereign and freedom-loving nation, and Russia is squarely to blame for all damage and destruction, to both lives and treasure, that has resulted from Putin’s unprovoked attack.
@ZelenskyyUa, you know that the United States Congress, and the American people, stand 100% behind you. The Ukrainian people are so blessed to have you leading them in these difficult times. We have your back, and we will stand with you until Ukrainian victory is achieved. 🇺🇸 🇺🇦
