Our position is clear and unwavering: 🏡 There can be no sale of govt land across the 44 sites.
🏡 The towers must be replaced with significantly more than 1000 extra dwellings (ideally +10k).
🏡 There can be no net loss of public housing.

One for the social housing policy nerds - Vic Govt have finally released the Reg Review!
We fought for this back in 2020 to ensure public & community tenants had equitable rights.
We’ll have more to say once we’ve digested it - so happy reading nerds!

We’ll always give credit where credit is due - and on this one, well done @AdamBandt . Good public policy, good public outcomes. Snaps to @AlboMP for getting it done ✅
Anthony Albanese and Adam Bandt have struck a deal to pass key Labor agenda items in exchange for half a billion dollars in new social housing funding.
Bandt and Albanese met in the prime minister’s office on Thursday morning. theage.com.au/politics/feder…
A privilege to join @h4theaag for the launch of their critical research ‘Not Poor Enough, Not Rich Enough: the Missing Middle’. 1/
1000s of older Australian renters who are “too rich” to have access to social housing, but “too poor” to access homeownership or secure housing.
Security in retirement is predicated on retirees owning their own home - but this isn’t available to everyone. 2/
We want to see an end to discriminatory lending practices, expansion of shared equity schemes for this cohort & an introduction of fixed rate mortgages. Our homeownership target of 75% by 2035 is focussed on ensuring every Australian can access a safe & secure retirement #75by35
This is a fantastic announcement that will make a meaningful difference to the lives of millennials and zoomers but we can’t abandon social and affordable housing or our desire to have mandatory inclusionary zoning.
Period.

Housing.
It’s so we can create a home.
A sanctuary.
A safe place to sleep, to grow and to live.
To raise children & build happy memories.
Not for profit.
Not for wealth.
Not only for the rich.
