A great basketball team isn't built on talent alone. It's built on trust. Trust in your teammates, trust in the system, and trust in the work you've put in together.

Everyone loves the highlight scorer. But the screen-setter, the rotation-helper, the glue-guy? That's who wins championships.

Somewhere along the way, I believe many coaches have forgotten that mistakes are supposed to be part of development. A kid turns the ball over….bench. Misses an assignment…..bench. Makes the wrong read……yelling, running, or some other immediate punishment. Then we wonder why athletes play scared, hesitate, hide from big moments, and constantly look toward the sideline or their parents after every mistake. Accountability matters. Effort, attitude, and repeated carelessness should have consequences. But every mistake is not disobedience, laziness, or a character flaw. Sometimes a young athlete is simply learning. If we punish every mistake before we teach through it, we are not developing confident decision-makers. We are developing athletes who become experts at avoiding blame. Give kids room to fail, process, adjust, and try again. That is not lowering the standard. That is coaching.

Players often ask, Coach, how do I get better? My answer? Win the unnoticed battles: - Sprint down in transition defense. - Talk on every play. - Be the guy diving for a loose ball.

🚨 PARENTS, THIS NEEDS TO BE SAID! 🚨 As a parent, what are YOU doing to make sure your student-athlete is getting the exposure they deserve? 🤔 Here’s the hard truth: It is NOT your high school athletic program’s responsibility to get your child recruited. If your athlete is in a program that shares the responsibility you're blessed. Yes, coaches can help. Yes, programs can make connections. But at the end of the day, you have to take ownership of the recruiting process. Stop assuming, “If he’s good enough, they’ll find him.” There are thousands of talented student-athletes across the country fighting for the same opportunities. 🎥 Is the film updated? 📲 Is it getting in front of college coaches? 📚 Are the grades where they need to be? 🏈 Are you attending the RIGHT camps—not just every camp? 🤝 Are relationships being built with college programs? 📈 Are accomplishments being promoted consistently? Playing well on Friday night is only part of the process. You can’t expect college coaches to recruit a student-athlete they don’t know exists. Talent creates potential. Exposure creates opportunities. Take ownership. Be proactive. Have a plan. Dream Big. Work Harder. #RecruitNEGA #Recruiting101 #CollegeFootballRecruiting #RecruitingExposure #StudentAthlete

Your best player might not be the one who scores the most points. It's often the one who sacrifices for the team, gets stops on defense, and inspires everyone else to dig a little deeper. Every championship team has *that* player.

Btw do those foreign companies they’ll get beef from donate to your kids fundraiser or local church or buy American equipment and goods? Or give back to any American cause?

HARSH RECRUITING TRUTH: Academics matter, character matters, connections matter, and fit matters….. BUT NOTHING MATTERS LIKE TALENT. It’s a dog eat dog world and that’s the reality of it.

🔥 How to Get Noticed by Coaches (When You’re Not 6'7") Not every player is born with 6'7" height, elite athletic ability, or lights-out shooting out of the gate. But if you think physical gifts are the only way to catch a coach’s eye, PGC Basketball CEO Mano Watsa drops a powerful truth every athlete needs to internalize: "Effort is a skill—and it’s a choice." 💡 Why Hustle is Your Greatest Competitive Advantage Talent Opens Doors, Effort Keeps You There: High-level height and natural scoring get initial attention, but most players fall into the "undersized and still developing" category. Easier to Master Than Any Skill: Developing elite ball-handling or 40% three-point shooting takes thousands of reps over years. Making a high-effort play requires zero physical talent—it only takes a decision. Coaches Notice What Stand Out: Every good coach actively looks for the athlete who out-hustles, communicates, and consistently out-works everyone else on the floor. 🏀 The Takeaway for Players Stop making excuses for what you don't have—your size, your jump shot, or your athleticism. Focus on the one thing you can control 100% of the time: your effort. Make out-hustling everyone else your signature move. #BasketballDevelopment #PGCBasketball #HoopGrind #PlayerDevelopment #EffortIsASkill #BasketballCoaching #BasketballMindset
