By three o'clock, the library was filled with after-school students occupying study tables and computer stations with quiet energy. Middle schoolers focused on homework, while high schoolers prepared for upcoming exams and dreamed big of reaching for the stars.

I had the luxury of being in the same platoon from rifleman to weapons squad leader (about 8 years) before moving to a different company to be a platoon sergeant.
The sense of pride and esprit de corps in those platoons was unmatched, because our entire lives were focused on getting better as a group and killing fools.
I didnโt conduct my first PCS until I had been in the Army for 10 years.
This canโt be done everywhere, but in my opinion there should be some places where we give it a shot and see how it goes. Maybe just offer people the option to stay if they want, while those who donโt like the unit or location can PCS as normal.
After a few years, I think we would see extremely impressive results.
It would also save a shit ton of money.

Personnel. The Manpower model.
We recruit, man, and train based on the same model that's been in place since the all-vol force came into being. Cycle men through jobs like mass-produced parts.
Like conscripts.
To paraphrase Sherlock Holmes: If you've tried everything and still haven't seen the expected results, the one thing you HAVEN'T tried must be the fucking answer.
Leave units together longer. For 3 or even 4 years. Tie the damn contracts to service with a given formation (Division/Regt./Group/Ship).
Stop moving good dudes out of jobs they're good at. Replace only for incompetence or physical injury.
Stop the cycle of madness.

The whole idea of "incompetent to stand trial" is fucking nonsense. If you're too "incompetent" to understand that you shouldn't butcher an innocent woman on the train, you should die. Period. Arrest, convict, execute. You are not fit to be a part of human society. How many more innocent people must we sacrifice for the sake of coddling and babying the absolute scum of the Earth? Our ancestors had it right. They would have had this guy hanging from the gallows an hour after conviction. The old system of justice was light years better than this insane bullshit we're dealing with now.

Iโm noticing a lot of foreigners who seem to not understand why weโd risk hundreds of lives, spend millions of dollars, and sacrifice several aircraft to rescue one guy. And the reason they donโt understand is also the reason people canโt be made American by a piece of paper.
