Don’t let the Lindsey Graham non-story distract you from the fact that in a few short weeks Democrats are sending a pedophile to Congress who is responsible for California:
- legalizing sex between adult men and 14 year old kids.
- decriminalizing knowingly transmitting HIV
- becoming a refuge for sex transitions for children.

Jocelyn Benson, who’s overseeing her own election, claims noncitizen voting is “extremely rare,” but in just Republican S.O.S. nominee Anthony Forlini’s Macomb County…
🗳️ 1,298 self-reported noncitizens in the jury pool
🗳️ 53 matched to the voter rolls
🗳️ 6 were noncitizens with a voting history
Macomb isn’t an outlier. Michigan needs a voter roll clean up and Forlini is the clerk who’s been cross-checking the lists. Vote @tonyforlini1 for Michigan’s next Secretary of State.

🚨 MICHIGAN — I am absolutely infuriated by this.
Justice Brett Kavanaugh has DENIED Americans for Citizen Voting–Michigan’s emergency request to get the citizens-only voting amendment onto the November ballot.
No written opinion. No explanation. Just DENIED.
Let me make sure I understand this correctly.
More than 700,000 Michigan citizens signed petitions asking for the opportunity to vote on a constitutional amendment making it clear that only U.S. citizens can vote in Michigan elections.
The State Board of Canvassers blocked it.
Americans for Citizen Voting fought back, ultimately taking the case all the way to the United States Supreme Court.
Justice Kavanaugh then ordered Michigan to respond on an expedited timeline — which certainly made it look like the Court understood the urgency of what was happening.
Michigan responded. ACVM replied.
And then?
Denied. Without explanation.
So forgive me for asking the obvious question:
Why demand an expedited response from the State if you're going to deny emergency relief without even explaining the legal reasoning?
Maybe there is a legal rationale. But Kavanaugh didn't provide one in the order, so none of us should pretend we know what it is.
And THAT is precisely what is so infuriating.
This isn't some theoretical law-school exercise. There is a ballot deadline staring Michigan voters in the face.
We're talking about 700,000+ petition signatures and citizens attempting to exercise a right Michigan's own Constitution gives them: the initiative process.
If citizens follow the law, collect hundreds of thousands of signatures, challenge the government's decision through the courts and STILL cannot even get the question before voters, at some point we have to ask:
What exactly are these laws and constitutional rights worth if nobody will enforce them when it matters?
And here's the kicker:
Kavanaugh's denial does NOT say those sworn voter affidavits were fraudulent.
It does NOT say those citizens didn't sign the petitions.
It does NOT contain a ruling that the Board was correct on the merits.
It simply denies the emergency injunction.
Apparently 700,000+ Michiganders can sign a petition asking to VOTE on whether only citizens should vote…
…and somehow Michigan voters may never get to vote on it.
You honestly couldn't write the irony better if you tried.
I believe in the rule of law. I believe in our Constitution. And I believe courts exist in part to protect citizens when government institutions overstep their authority.
But the rule of law only means something if citizens can actually rely on it when the clock is running out.
The @USSupremeCourt let us down big time today.
Michigan voters deserved an answer. At the VERY least, they deserved an explanation.
700,000+ signatures. LET THE PEOPLE VOTE.

When you’re Jocelyn Benson, who’s overseeing her own gubernatorial election, you get to determine the timeline of when petitions get certification. MMOP got certified in 58 days, 102 days prior to the November election, while the Citizens Only Voting petition took 173 days to come up only 3 signatures short 26 days before ballot distribution. Benson’s stopwatch seems to work in one partisan direction.
Benson's Bureau Slow-Walked Citizen-Only Voting to Death
Her team let a Dem-backed ballot measure fly through, but the Republican-backed measure fell three signatures short after a dubious process
By James Dickson @downi75
Jocelyn Benson says she has put up a “firewall” between herself and the Bureau of Elections, as the Secretary of State runs for governor.
But the differing treatment of Citizens Only Voting and Michigan Money Out of Politics—the former favored by Republicans, the latter by Democrats—casts doubt on the objectivity of Benson’s bureau.
In March, Citizens Only Voting submitted 710,000 signatures. Making the Nov. 3 ballot only required 446,000 valid signatures, but the organizers gave themselves plenty of cushion.
It didn’t matter.
Benson’s bureau slow-walked the approval process, which involves the evaluation of 1,000 signatures.
It took five months for Benson’s bureau, led by elections director Jonathan Brater, to identify the 1,000-signature sample. And wouldn’t you know it, the 1,000 signatures it sampled came up three short of the 629 it would’ve needed for approval.
Compare that to Michigan Money Out of Politics, which wants to amend state law to ban political contributions from the likes of DTE Energy and Consumers, who donate heavily to just about every Lansing politician.
In late May, Michigan Money Out of Politics submitted its signatures. By late July, it was approved for the ballot, following the recommendation of Benson’s bureau. Its 1,000-signature sample checked out just fine.
Though Republicans backed Citizens Only Voting, polling says the idea that only citizens should vote has wide approval, even among Democrats.
For decades, Democrats have used ballot measures to juice turnout. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer was buoyed by pot legalization in 2018 and limitless abortion in 2022. Just as Republicans remembered how to play the game, Benson’s team did everything in its power to keep Citizens Only Voting off the ballot.
The final decision on ballot access was officially made by the Board of State Canvassers. The board is a four-member body, two Democrats and two Republicans, built to deadlock along party lines.
Board members don’t have to follow the bureau’s recommendations, but they tend to. The board is also lazy.
One Democrat, Heather Cummings, said a request to review a four-page document was “not reasonable” and “not fair.” The bureau recommended that Citizens Only Voting not pass, and the Democrats voted that way. The bureau recommended that Michigan Money Out of Politics pass, and the Democrats voted that way. That a Republican—board chair Richard Houskamp—voted yes is the only reason the question will make the ballot. That courtesy was not returned the next month, when Citizens Only Voting was under board review.
There’s a lot to not like about an even-numbered board that refuses to consider evidence. But what’s recommended to the board in the first place traces back to Benson’s bureau of elections.
In a past life, before she was ever elected Secretary of State, Benson argued that the elections bureau should be thorough in its review of signatures. That 1,000 signature might be the floor, but it’s not the ceiling, and the bureau should reach for the ceiling.
An exhaustive review, Benson wrote in a law review article in 2007, “would entail an examination of all signatures submitted and would require that all signatories be contacted in order to verify that they supported the petition.”
Secretary of State Benson would hardly recognize her past self. In 2010, when Benson first ran for Secretary of State—in a losing effort against Ruth Johnson—Benson said she would swear an “oath of nonpartisanship” if elected.
Benson swore she would refuse to endorse candidates in any race where she would be the final vote counter.
After winning in 2018, Benson took no such oath. By 2024, Benson was accused by a federal judge of “manipulating the presidential ballot.”
Jocelyn Benson has abandoned every practice and principle she claimed to embrace before she tasted power. Now she will count the votes while running for governor.
Firewall or no firewall, Benson’s bureau knows what will benefit the boss on Nov. 3.

In 1971 the US government funded a speech AI that used a hand-crafted knowledge graph of 14,000 nodes. It worked. Then hidden Markov models replaced it entirely by learning from data - and outperformed it by orders of magnitude. Richard Sutton called this the bitter lesson.
In 2025 Sutton said LLMs are repeating the same mistake. Training on human-generated text is just a more sophisticated version of building human knowledge into the system. AlphaGo Zero - trained with zero human games, only reinforcement learning - discovered strategies experts called "from an alternate dimension."
