ALT CfP: IMC, Leeds 2025 Post-National Philologies: New Approaches to Medieval Text Traditions Despite a burgeoning interest in global and comparative literary contexts, the hermeneutic frameworks of national philologies continue to shape how we as scholars approach historical narrative traditions from the medieval period and beyond. This session calls for a reassessment of these frameworks, by asking scholars to engage with new formats for studying historical literary traditions that transcend linguistic and cultural borders. We invite abstracts for papers that deploy innovative, interdisciplinary methods, theoretical frameworks, or tools to analyse cross-regional text traditions of the later medieval period. Texts may include but are not limited to romances, hagiographies, or advice literature of any kind. Papers should be 15-20 minutes. Please submit your abstract (250 words max), name, affiliation (if any), and contact details to Miriam Edlich-Muth at [email protected].
