Urologist has to come in for procedure. MD text me on charge phone “be there in about an hour.
I replied: “Drive safe. Urine my thoughts.”
No response.
I’ve never met this MD before. I’m either going to get a write up or make a new friend tonight. – at Yountville, CA
I miss when everyone on the vent was sedated on prop and fent IVP.
Now it’s a sprinkle of dex, a dash of ketamine, touch of fent, +\- a tincture or prop.
We really do the most for no reasons sometimes.
MD places order for foley. Indication is “per family request to promote rest”
RN refuses to place foley per nursing policy that doesn’t list that as an I indication for foley.
MD tells RN that order supersedes nursing policy. RN disagrees.
Who’s side are you on?

After 20 years at the bedside, I am now officially a Nurse Practitioner.
And it feels WEIRD! Like sad/regret/ I feel like I have betrayed something or someone
Please tell me I’m not the only RN who has felt this way after becoming an NP?
ICU RN 2 yes into the pandemic and i feel strongly that:
- A pt who is on HFNC/NIPPV for >10 days before requiring intubation is going to die
- VAST majority of pts who need & get a trach will die within 60 days, like 80+%
- Any pt needing NMB >10 days in the stay will die
Anti APP folk really love making charts that act like 2000 clinical hours as a med student counts as acceptable training but 1 year (2000 hours) as a bedside ICU nurse doesn’t translate into any clinical hours.
And that’s just wild to me. #trainingmatters #physicanledcare #ppp

Interviewing at a well-known academic center:
Recruiter: Are you Indian?
Me: I’m Indian American, from Texa-
Recruiter (gleefully): We just got this Indian cardiologist. He is single. You two would make SuCh a CuTE match!
Me: Ma’am I came for the surgeon job . . . (1/2) – at Houston, TX

A patient who was intubated and sedated told me today that he heard a lot of conversations during that time. And wishes people still greeted him when entering his #ICU room. Even though he could not show a response, he wanted to be included.

Bullying in nursing is bullshit & cowardly. Don’t be that nurse, at work or anon online
With that said, voicing discontent that someone who didn’t work during the hellpit of the pandemic is the face of the COVID nurse is not bullying.
Don’t cross that line.
Me, I’m really just happy a big outlet cared to interview a RN at all.
We are all on this together

What did your hospital do for your department on nurses day? And was the cake chocolate or white? #NurseTwitter
Anyone else seeing more pressure ulcers in the COVID ICU?
No change in policy (q2hr turns) or equipment. More iso and PPE but more ”helping hands” have been available so not a staffing issue
Maybe from the steroid use + forever long illness? Idk man shrug🤷🏻♀️

Let me hear your thoughts on who in healthcare should/shouldn’t have access to the covid vaccine right now #MedTwitter
