Unpopular opinion in Canadian venture: capital announced is not capital deployed. @RBC just launched a $1B USD growth fund for Canadian tech. Great news. But the amount was never the whole problem.

So the @rbcx fund is welcome, and hopefully changes the landscape. But watch three things: the thesis behind the capital, the terms attached, and how fast it reaches companies that are great but not perfect on paper. Canada doesn’t lack founders worth backing. It lacks lead cheques written with conviction.

The 23 year old who quit Foot Locker last week and started selling cars is not going to suffer through your 2009 CRM. He’s going to vibe-code his own tools, then show the rep beside him. Your shadow IT problem starts on the sales floor, and it’s going to outsell you.

Your competitive advantage is no longer information … everyone has all the info now. It’s adoption and implementation. Everyone’s got the playbooks now, it’s going to boil down to who is actually going to use them.

Everyone betting on tech killing dealerships is going to lose. I spent years building around this industry before I saw where the actual break is. It's not the showroom. It's the sequence. Credit, payoff, equity, identity. The person whose job depends on those facts is the last one to see them. Deal gets built for an hour, sometimes two, then the truth shows up and the whole thing comes apart. I've watched honest work collapse late because one fact arrived after it mattered. That part still bugs me. So here's my forecast for the next five years. The winners won't be the ones moving the transaction online. That's been tried. Repeatedly. The winners will move the decisive information to the front. Same people, same store, same handshake. The deal just starts from what's true instead of guessing toward it. Nobody gets removed. The order gets fixed. That's the whole disruption. It's plumbing.

The only players who can beat tech companies that are dealerships and sell cars. Are dealerships that become tech companies.

Do it alone. Do it broke. Do it scared. But for the love of God, Just do it.

To go from $0 to $100k, learn a skill. To go from $100k to $1m, learn a system. #process

Car dealerships that don't embrace technology will be left in the dust. Instead of resisting it, get excited about it. Because this is the biggest opportunity in your industry since Henry Ford launched the Model T.

Augmented reality is a game changer. With AR, customers can see what a car looks like in their own driveway before they even purchase it. This level of personalization and visualization is a powerful tool for closing sales.

The opportunity is yours for the taking. Technology is the biggest opportunity in the automotive industry since the Model T. Dealerships that embrace it and use it to their advantage will thrive. Those that resist it will be left in the dust.
