Deakin Distinguished Professor Catherine Bennett appeared on multiple media agencies yesterday speaking to reports of a spike in Chinese human metapneumovirus (HMPV) cases does not necessarily mean the world is facing a repeat of COVID-19. 2024 marked the 15th anniversary of the Institute’s Centre for Quality and Patient Safety Research (QPS), a momentous milestone for this leading Australian centre for applied health services research. QPS’s work impacts over 33,000 nurses annually and touches the care of more than three million patients and aged care residents across urban, regional, and rural settings. Its programs span both public and private healthcare sectors, focusing on patient safety, patient experience, and workforce improvement. QPS’s distinctive model is rooted in its embedded partnerships with leading Victorian healthcare providers, including @AlfredHealth, @BarwonHealth, @Epworth Healthcare, @western_health, @easternhealthau, and @MonashHealth.
