Indigenous Peoples have been stewards of the lands and waters in Canada since time immemorial. Today, they are helping to shape Canada’s future.
This National Indigenous History Month, we honour the histories, cultures, languages, and enduring contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis across Canada. Together, we can lay a stronger foundation on which to build a better future for all.

🔥 The Boreal is a fire-adapted forest — and for millennia, Indigenous Peoples used cultural burning to care for it.
When those practices were outlawed, dry fuels built up — now feeding massive wildfires every summer.
At @BanffMtnFest, Dr. Amy Cardinal Christianson spoke about restoring cultural fire to heal the land.

Pride Month might be over — but being Two-Spirit isn’t a trend, it’s a legacy.
We’ve carried culture, spirit, and survival through generations.
Colonizers tried to erase us, rename us, rewrite us — but we were never gone.
We are the ceremony. We are the rebellion. We are the joy.
Still here. Still sacred. Still proud. Every damn day. 🪶🔥🌈
