Today ,26 October 2026 marks Intersex Awareness Day. Between 0.05% and 1.7% of the world’s population is intersex, a number some people say is comparable to the world’s population that has red hair(yess!)
Intersex is an umbrella term used to describe a range of variations that can affect genitals, gonads, hormones, chromosomes, or reproductive organs. There are at least 40 known intersex variations.
To all Intersex folks, ViVa!! this #Intersexawarenessday

Our rights. Our voices. Our future. 🏳️🌈✊🏾
What is the current state of LGBTIQ+ human rights across the African continent, and how do we build collective power for the future of queer liberation?
In this episode, host Kevin Mwachiro @kevmwachiro , convenes alongside Tabitha Saoyo, a human rights lawyer, Chepkirui Ronoh of @galck_plus and @melodynyuki of @INENDorg , to interrogate structural violence, examine state-sanctioned homophobia, and chart transformative pathways for movement building across the region.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PRONOUNS

Safe abortion Concepts we're tired of explaining as feminists:
1.Safe abortion is healthcare.
2.Restricting it doesn't stop abortion , it just stops safe abortion and every time we have to re-litigate that basic fact, someone pays for it with their health, or their life.
We shouldn't have to keep explaining this. But we will, for as long as it takes.

Kenya Ni Nchi Yetu!
From corruption in public contracts to a single nurse caring for 20 patients in public hospitals, this conversation lays bare why democracy has to work for everyone at the margins, not just the few.
Queering the ballot is not only about LGBTIQ+ people, rather, it is also about what and whom Kenyan Democracy has failed since independence, and the oppressive structures and burdens that we have had to endure as wananchi of this country due to bad governance.
Catch this conversation with Kevin Mwachiro @kevmwachiro , Essy Adhiambo and Diana Gichengo of @TISAKenya as they delve on that here: youtu.be/XAEuSMf95vk?si=_XEg…

Democracy is not truly democratic when some of us are free and others are left behind
As we look forward to marking the International Day of Democracy this 15th September, Queering the Ballot II (QTB II), a campaign led by @INENDorg , @galckplus , and @NGLHRC stands with all people in Kenya facing xenophobia, harassment, and exclusion.
The rhetoric that paints migrants as threats, queer people as outsiders, or informal workers as disposable serves one dangerous idea that frames some people as deserving fewer rights.
We reject that idea.

Article 27 of Kenya's 2010 Constitution protects ALL human beings with NO hierarchy of dignity.
Our democracy must make room for all of us.

Have you watched our most recent episode of Queering the Ballot II yet? 👀
As we head towards another election, host Kevin Mwachiro @kevmwachiro is joined by Diana Gichengo of @TISAKenya and Essy Adhiambo @Essy_Emilly to ask what it really means to choose our leaders.
Wealth should not be a substitute for a track record of working for the people, and feeling removed from what is happening around us should not be an excuse for political apathy. Because for most of us, regardless of where we live or what we have, we are only as protected as the systems around us.
Our responsibility doesn’t start or end at the ballot box✊🏾

This #SuicidePreventionMonth , we are thinking about the ways our societies can either make life more difficult or make it more possible.🎗️
For so many of us, the ability to see a future for ourselves is deeply connected to how we are treated, what protections exist for us and whether we are able to live with dignity and belonging.
#SuicidePrevention #MentalHealthMatters #EqualityandJusticeforAll
Prevention is also about creating environments where people have reasons to feel safe, connected and hopeful about the lives ahead of them. That means looking beyond individual experiences and asking what needs to change around us.

No country in the world has reached full legal equality for women and girls. From protection against gender-based violence to equal pay, WOMEN'S and girls’ human rights remain unequal under the law, as impunity for violations of women and girls persists worldwide-UN Women , APRIL 2026

On 31 July, we invited you to Thika for what we envisioned to be a peaceful space for learning, dialogue, and civic participation. 🇰🇪
Instead, what unfolded became a stark reminder that many Kenyans still face barriers when exercising their constitutional rights.

If you are in Amsterdam, please join INEND’s Executive Director, Essy Adhiambo, who is serving as keynote speaker and panel chair for a session exploring intergenerational grace, examining how different eras of activism can learn from one another and collaborate on movement-building without creating binaries, alongside fellow human rights defenders.
The discussion focuses on extending grace to outgoing founders by addressing succession planning, burnout, and the reality that veteran activists may lack the resources or capacity to provide traditional mentorship.
