We are deeply saddened by the passing of Professor M Rammohan Rao, former Dean of ISB (2004–2009), who departed earlier today. Professor Rao was a leader who helped establish ISB as a world-class institution. Under his guidance, the School made strides, especially in building a research foundation. He believed that a business school must be a hub for knowledge creation, not just dissemination. This belief continues to guide ISB's academic mission. His distinguished career included serving as Director of IIM Bangalore, tenured Professor at NYU’s Stern School of Business, and holding numerous leadership roles, including President of the Association of Indian Management Schools. Among his many honours, he received the prestigious Fulkerson Prize in 2000. He was also the first Dean of an Indian business school appointed to the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). A respected scholar in operations research and management science, Professor Rao exemplified the highest standards of academic leadership and institutional governance. His influence extended beyond ISB, contributing significantly to the broader landscape of management education in India. Those who worked with Professor Rao remember his academic values and his commitment to nurturing talent. He continued to share his knowledge and guide students until the very end. His legacy lives on in the countless students, faculty, and institutions he helped shape throughout his career. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. The ISB community will forever remain grateful for his contributions.

Dean Madan Pillutla and I had a very warm meeting with Shri Vineet Joshi Vineet Joshi, IAS, Secretary - Higher Education, @EduMinOfIndia. We used the opportunity to provide him with an update about @ISBedu, including recent FT Rankings, the launch of PGP YL, quality research, curriculum revision, and more. During our meeting, one of the joint secretaries came in. When introduced, she remarked how the Hon'ble Education Minister, at a recent meeting in the ministry, praised the ISB campus and quoted us as an example of quality. Such endorsements from the minister strengthen our commitment to continue on the path of excellence and to do our part in helping realise the goals of the National Education Policy to transform the education system in India.

The ISB community shares the grief of the nation on the passing away of Dr Manmohan Singh, Former Prime Minister of India. ISB had the honour of hosting Dr Singh as the chief guest during its 5th year celebrations in 2006, where he delivered the inaugural address. In 2017, he visited our Mohali campus to deliver a keynote at the ISB Leadership Summit and to see for himself the campus he played a role in setting up. Today, as we mourn his passing away with profound sadness, we offer our deepest condolences to his family and followers. #ISB #ManmohanSingh

The primary focus of the endowment, however, was the funding it would provide towards offering financial aid to meritorious PGP candidates. Beginning in 2012, the fund has so far supported cumulative tuition fee waivers of ₹ 94 lakh to 20 students. A massive shoutout to all the alumni who continue to give back to the School through the Alumni Endowment Fund and support its scholarship programme.

Enabled by the contributions of many of the faculty who visit ISB from across the globe to teach on its programmes, and awarded in the form of a tuition fee waiver to an international PGP candidate who qualifies based on need or merit, this scholarship has supported financial aid to 5 students so far. Thank you to our visiting faculty for their wonderful support to ISB’s scholarship programme.
