She also took time to connect with Prof. Hauwa Mainoma of NSUK an d other women leaders in the room. When more women hold decision-making seats, communities and governance both improve, and this conversation is one we are glad to be part of.

Today is World Polio Day. 🟢 Polio is a highly contagious virus that attacks the nervous system and can cause muscle weakness and lifelong paralysis. It mostly spreads through food and water contaminated with infected stool.

People with no symptoms can shed the virus for weeks, so outbreaks stay hidden until paralysis appears. Vaccines protect children from paralysis, and every child under five needs all their doses, including during campaign rounds. A missed dose leaves a gap the virus can use.

Check your child’s immunisation card today. If a dose is missing, take them to your nearest health facility. When the vaccinators come to your street, open the door. Share this with a parent who needs to see it. #EndPolio

She also reminded us that awareness is not enough. Nigeria’s Mental Health Act 2021 needs to be properly implemented, discriminatory laws and practices need to change, and quality mental healthcare has to be affordable and within reach through primary healthcare.

When the media informs responsibly, society understands better. When society understands better, stigma declines. When stigma declines, more Nigerians can seek help and live with dignity. Every voice counts. Every life matters. #WorldMentalHealthDay2026 #ISMPH

The conversation was about a simple point: AI in health only works when the communities it serves have a say in how it is built and used. Trust comes first, and technology follows.
