Maybe I'm overreacting in the positive direction, but I really don't see why people are saying Garand isn't an NHL goalie...sure his rebound control isn't the greatest and he had a couple bad starts in a row, but he hasn't had any rest. There's no denying his compete level here

The Rangers have their fifth home regulation win. It’s Oct. 13.
In 2025-26, the Rangers got their fifth home regulation win on March 27.
I love that Sullivan isn't afraid to bench underperforming regulars in the lineup. Dorofeyev replaced on PP last game + benched earlier tonight. Whereas with other coaches, I'd yell at my TV as Barclay Goodrow gave the puck to the other team and was rewarded with more ice time
Last year, #NYR got shut out in their first 3 home games and got booed off the ice. A year later, they're 4-0 at MSG and getting a standing ovation from their fans. That's how you respond to the Shesterkin injury
Tough break for Shesterkin and #NYR tonight. You could see how the Rangers looked like a completely different team after the injury. Like a punch to the gut. This is a huge test early in the season for this group. Can they rally behind a young backup and stay competitive?
I'm sorry, but Garand needs to stay man. Even if he just develops into a solid backup, that's a future asset. Not to mention he plays with heart so it's great to have someone like that on the team. How no one claimed him on waivers is beyond me
Here's Sullivan on Garand responding the way he did:
"It speaks volumes for his character. He's a good person, first and foremost. He loves hockey. You can see it — I mean, I can see it every time I see him walk through the door, and the way he works on his game. And he's a fierce competitor. He wants to play in the NHL. I understand that. That's one of the things we love about him. He's battling. He's controlling what he can, and it's hard. Pro sports is competitive, and things don't always go your way. You've got to be able to work your way through the ebbs and flows of a career. The thing I love about Dylan is he controls those things that are within his power. He's got a great attitude. His effort is always where it needs to be. I really have a lot of admiration for him — for how he handles his circumstances. He's a great kid. I was thrilled for him that he got a shutout tonight.”

Now when the Rangers struggle to score goals, we can all say, "Shesterkin could score more goals than #NYR"
We're two periods into the new season and Igor Shesterkin is already doing cartwheels and headstands keeping the Rangers in the game

#NYR acquiring Pavel Dorofeyev from Vegas in exchange for the No. 26 pick, the No. 92 pick and a conditional 2028 first-round pick (condition on the pick is top-10 protected), per source.
