The cat's out of the bag.
SurrealDB 4 and @SurrealDB Earth are out today.
When we started SurrealDB, I wanted one database that could hold every shape of data and query it all together.
Now every agent, user and app can have a database of its own.

Building agent memory? Start with the right ingredients: every fact with its source, permissions that stick, and corrections that keep history. The SurrealDB Agent Memory Cookbook offers practical end-to-end guides.

Launch week wasn鈥檛 long enough.
28.3x the point reads of RocksDB, in memory.
7.95x on disk, with synchronous durability.
77.2% on BEAM at 1M tokens. 57.1% strict.
Next week: @SurrealDB 4, SurrealFS, SurrealDB Earth, and more.
Agent Memory is here. This is one of the biggest launches in SurrealDB's history.
It turns conversations and documents into a shared brain of entities, relationships, and facts, tracking where information came from and how it changes over time. It's built on top of SurrealDB, which supports graphs, vectors, and documents in one database - there's no need to stitch together multiple systems. The result: better accuracy, performance, and token efficiency.
We've also invested heavily in benchmarking, achieving 77.2% on BEAM. There are great alternatives like Mem0, Honcho, and Cognee, but we're taking a different approach.
Memory or accuracy? Yes.
SurrealDB Agent Memory: memory for AI agents, every fact with its source.
77.2% on BEAM, the 1M-token memory benchmark. 57.1% strict, every rubric item met in full. No other vendor we checked publishes that.

Speed or durability? Yes.
We're replacing RocksDB.
New persistent storage engine: reads 8.0x and updates 6.1x faster than RocksDB. Reads 73.7x faster than SlateDB (on disk, not object storage).
Run it yourself.

In-memory or persistent? Yes.
Our new in-memory storage engine: 28.3x faster than RocksDB and 17.5x faster than LMDB for reads, both in memory. Lock-free. Embedded, in the browser or on a server.
Run it yourself.

A data warehouse tells you what is true, not how things connect. Surreal Sync now ingests Snowflake tables into SurrealDB, where facts join the relationships, vectors, and agent memory already living in one engine.
