Getting republicans to concede a Dem isn’t a socialist is nuts haha
“I know Josh Turek isn’t a socialist, but can we trust him to say no to his party?” asks an Americans for Prosperity ad. Grassley told Semafor that “even if he is a different kind of Democrat” — emphasizing the “if” — Turek’s association with his party leadership is still damaging Turek called it “fearmongering” to portray his candidacy as empowering the left, vowing to “100%” be a check on his party’s liberal impulses: “‘What do you think about impeachment?’ No interest in that. I believe we should look forward, not backwards"

Iowa is not a swing state! It’s a red state that’s only remotely contestable this year because Trump 2 is the worst president ever, loudly raising prices and claiming credit for that, on top of normal midterm dynamics
This is so stupid, Democrats can win in swing states without doing this. Besides the morality of it, it also alienates Progressive voters who you still need in order to win!

In general I find it interesting how relatively non strategic and triangulating politicians are. The GOP does barely any strategic positing outside of the northeast here and there. Totally coasts on easy mode structural biases. Also a lot of reddish state Dems could support

things that a guaranteed to be implemented by republicans or oppose things that are DOA in a Dem Congress.

I don’t know if this speaks well of politicians or not. I was also shocked that there weren’t more swing and red state Dems supporting “The Wall”

This is going to come off elitist but I don’t think people really understand how backwards red states are and it messes with what people think moderation should be.

The amount of people who believe the Bible is the literal word of god outnumber the college educated by at least double in the south and it’s a push in the plains/midwest states

Glad there is a chart making my point now . We love a chart
Elon Musk has spent more money on American elections in the last two years than George Soros has in his entire life.

rebranding as a sports guy right before you run for president is unbecoming
Huge win for Cincinnati. Proud of the entire team, but special shout out to Ja'Marr Chase, an amazing talent, who made my little six-year-old's year by noticing his football gloves. It's early, but I think the Bengals are going to make a run. Who Dey!

Not enough red state dems are saying they want to give Cheesecake Factory a Michelin star
A lot of people believe with Turek that Mods and Centrist Dems are arguing to withdraw healthcare from trans people And it's more that they believe that Senators from +10 R states should be allowed to have stances that they'll never get to act on because of how the Senate works

Is this a policy Dems should act on, no. Politics of it are not exactly a mystery though. Every Dem senator improves the chance of a liberal SCOTUS being possible. Thats kinda the whole ball game on civil rights and shit like gun control, wealth taxes, etc.
Replying to @rowanfornow
You want to prove Democrats aren't abandoning trans people and never will? Condemn Josh Turek.

But on this topic, I have seen people say that “sports by sex at birth” is the red meat to republicans that a red state candidate has to do…. That’s not red meat! Thats what the Dems in the state also believe (although it’s much closer to a push)

The red meat has to be red meat. Also the dem candidates in the state might truly believe more conservative shit. Maybe even some heinous shit. Does it increase the likelihood of a liberal Supreme Court? If yes, vote for them.

Politicians also believe it. In hilarious ways. One of Manchin’s anti CTC expansion in BBB arguments was that it wasn’t truly temporary—“once you have an entitlement politicians don’t let it expire”—at the same time the previous expansion recently expired
Ethics aside, this take could use some contact with reality. Biden's expanded CTC didn't motivate recipients to vote to maintain it. Trump offered $5000 checks and it hurt him in the polls. The empirical claim that welfare creates single issue voters just doesn't hold up.
