For Walters State head coach Jerry Nichols, there are a few things he wants college coaches to immediately recognize when they watch the Senators — starting with toughness. “Toughness is one of the biggest things that coaches—I think coaches should really feel, or really leave walking away taking that away from our program.” But Nichols wants that physicality paired with players who understand how to play the game the right way, from making the extra pass to reading the floor and consistently making winning decisions. “These guys know how to play the right way, whether it’s playing on two feet, being able to share the ball, making short pulls, making the right read.” Above everything else, the identity at Walters State comes back to one thing: winning. Nichols wants players who value the result over individual recognition and are willing to do whatever the game demands. “The Walters State brand is all about winning.” “We want to recruit guys that want to win, and they feel like winning by any means necessary when they’re playing basketball.”

Walters State forward Tyrese Stovall was a dominant force throughout the P32 JUCO Showcase, showcasing the complete package that makes him one of the premier frontcourt players in JUCO basketball. With an impressive blend of size, athleticism, skill, and physicality, Stovall consistently imposed his will on both ends of the floor. He finished through contact, protected the paint, controlled the glass, and proved he can impact the game in a variety of ways against high-level competition. His versatility and ability to affect winning in so many areas make him a major weapon for Walters State and a player college coaches should have firmly on their radar. College coaches can track Tyrese Stovall on the Revocruit software.
