Eavesdropping? Call it research.
Listen closely, and you might pick up a clue for your next move. Just make sure you’re in the right place at the right time.

Absolutely agree. I already feel that Mass Effect will return under a new studio, my money is on Respawn after Star Wars Battlefront 3.
I wholeheartedly support Mass Effect living on, always will, just not under Bioware.
They focused too much on social reform than story telling

BioWare had the double whammy of shit luck. On one end corporate nonsense was part of their downfall, the other end was activist game developers that ruined their future due to horrific sales & bad games.
You can’t survive when both ends of your demise are two unstoppable forces of garbage.
I agree corporate schlock led to their downfall, but ignoring the pink elephant with rainbow colored hair in the room is equally tone deaf & anyone who ignores it is being ignorant on purpose
Maybe this Mass Effect game was a “return to form” but again they unfortunately had one of the worst RPG sequels ever ( VEILGUARD ) holding onto them like a ball & chain. And it dragged them under.
There’s a lesson here, but I don’t think the industry will learn from it

It's not fun to have people yelling at you, but it's worse to be ignored. At least angry people still care. In this video, I discuss spicy feedback and compare Bioware and Bungie's approaches to dealing with it.

Im a gay man who loved Bioware. Zev and Cole didnt really have much of a sway on the story. Hell even bull didnt really sway the story too much. Its cool to have same sex options. Whats not cool is having the ideology of lgbtq become part of the narrative. Its not cool that I havent had a dragon age or mass effect worth playing in a decade because people forgot how to write and produce compelling stories and felt it was important to prioritize promoting "compelling world views, and social commentary"
BioWare is fake and gay and we are better without them as they are now.
To those of you claiming that "woke" killed Bioware, you don't know what the frak you are talking about. BioWare was a pioneer in LGBTQ+ inclusion within Western RPGs, evolving from early same-sex options in games like Baldur’s Gate II and Jade Empire, to fully written queer main characters, explicit romances, and transgender/non-binary representation across the Dragon Age and Mass Effect series.
For those of you who claim you've played their games, but we know you haven't actually done so, here's a timeline of LGBTQ+ at a glance from BioWare games.
Early Era (2000–2005): Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (2003) featured Juhani as an early, semi-hidden lesbian romance. Jade Empire (2005) included same-sex options but faced editorial pushback or censorship in some markets.
Mass Effect Trilogy (2007–2012): Mass Effect (2007) sparked media controversy over a brief alien-human romance with Liara (playable as female Shepard). Mass Effect 2 expanded options, and Mass Effect 3 (2012) offered full same-sex romances for male and female Shepard, including crewmate Samantha Traynor and Steve Cortez.
Dragon Age Series (2009–Present): Dragon Age: Origins (2009) allowed bisexual/same-sex flings with select companions. Dragon Age II (2011) made nearly all main party members bisexual/pansexual. Dragon Age: Inquisition (2014) introduced Dorian Pavus as the studio's first fully gay companion and Krem as a prominent transgender character.
Later Titles (Andromeda and The Veilguard): Mass Effect: Andromeda (2017) scaled back queer options at launch, whereas later projects and studio leadership continued emphasizing expansive identity options and diverse characters.
Beyond that....
Writing & Advocacy: Lead writers like David Gaider championed authentic queer storylines, making non-straight identities a core part of fantasy and sci-fi worldbuilding rather than a joke.
Industry Influence: BioWare's commitment helped normalize LGBTQ+ characters in mainstream AAA video games, though critics and fans have also debated past missteps, missed opportunities, or inconsistent handling of bisexual representation.
(a simple Google search gives you the above, and you can go deeper if you like).
I've been playing their games since the VERY beginning. Get out of my timeline you fake-ass LARPers.

Chris Avellone is saying what many of us devs have know for years.
Yes, political purity tests were happening.
Yes, the modern left destroyed your favorite franchises and studios.
Yes, the modern left were the authoritarian nazis the entire time.
Chris Avellone (Planescape, KOTOR 2, and Fallout: New Vegas) just dropped a MEGATON NUKE regarding BioWare's hiring practices...
"...when applicants would apply to the studio, the producer would go through their LinkedIn to see what posts they liked, and if he disagreed with their political/social Like, he'd advocate not to hire them based on their Like."
ITS TRUE. EVERYTHING WE'VE BEEN SAYING. ITS ALL TRUE.
HOLY SHIT!

BioWare is not only broken but the situation surrounding the cancelled Mass Effect Universe game, the blatant activism & complete lack of foresight by industry professionals tells me that the games industry refuses to learn from their mistakes.
And they have no idea how to stop it. New video!

I can't say that I have sympathy. After what they did to the Dragon Age IP.
This is probably for the best.
Let's hope whoever works on DA/ME IP in the future, does so with the right gamers in mind and not those that are deluded with social messaging.
Well deserved. I played Hell Is Us for the first time this year and I was blown away by how good it is, but also how dark, mature and gritty the world building is. Thats true storytelling.
I wish I played it sooner. You guys deserve an award for the music too! 🤌🔥
