I put the clip next to the record.

He decides what Britain is allowed to be angry about. He books the fights, stages the exits, designs the clips, and banks the rage. The ring is his. The fighters bleed. And for thirty years, the country has been watching the wrong man. His name is not even Piers Morgan. It is Piers Stefan O'Meara. He buried the O'Meara before he was twenty-five, traded a hyphenated stepfather's name for something cleaner on a masthead, and built an identity so complete that the original barely registers. That was the first trick. The man who demands authenticity from every guest who sits across from him began by erasing himself. Rupert Murdoch made him editor of the News of the World at twenty-nine. Twenty-nine years old in 1994, handed a national newsroom, not because he had earned it but because Murdoch decided he was useful. The outsider died the day that phone call came. Everything since has been the performance of one. What he did with that chair is the record. And the record is this. Three weeks into his editorship, his paper identified the person making silent phone calls to Diana's confidant Oliver Hoare as the Princess of Wales. The source was a corrupt Metropolitan Police officer. Morgan was twenty-nine. He ran it. Diana's private distress became a front page, and his career launched on her humiliation. When Harry brought his case against News Group Newspapers thirty years later, Mr Justice Fancourt's 386-page judgment found that unlawful activity had been deliberately concealed across the group's titles. GBP140,600 in damages awarded to the Duke of Sussex in December 2023. News Group Newspapers settled in January 2025 with a full apology, admitting unlawful activity from 1996 to 2011. Morgan was at the heart of those years. He has never fully explained how he missed all of it. In March 2001, Paul McCartney and Heather Mills were still together. Morgan obtained a voicemail from Mills's phone. Not just obtained it. Played it. In his Daily Mirror newsroom. To staff. In December 2011, sitting at the Leveson Inquiry under oath, he told the panel he had never listened to an illegally obtained voicemail. The record of what he did in 2001 was sitting in a filing cabinet somewhere while he said it. He knew that. The inquiry moved on. In January 2000, Morgan's City Slickers column tipped Viglen shares. The day before the tip appeared in print, someone purchased GBP67,000 of Viglen stock. His colleagues James Hipwell and Anil Bhoyrul were convicted. Morgan was not. The financial regulator investigated. The CPS reviewed the file. He walked. He has never provided an explanation that satisfies anyone who has read the dates in sequence. In 2004, he published photographs purporting to show British soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners. The photographs were fabricated. He was sacked. He maintained they were genuine until the day it became impossible to do so. He did not resign. He was removed. In February 2014, CNN cancelled Piers Morgan Live. His ratings had fallen so badly that local affiliates were requesting to be released from the simulcast. He blamed America's relationship with guns. America blamed Morgan. Three editorships. Three exits. Not one of them on his own terms. Not one of them clean. After CNN he returned to Britain and reinvented the business model. He would not report. He would promote. Two people who loathe each other, a studio, a loaded question, and sit back while the clip spreads. The ring is always his. The fighters are always someone else's problem the morning after. He made Tommy Robinson, a convicted thug and fraudster with a documented criminal record, a fixture on that sofa. He booked Cenk Uygur and watched Cenk combust live on air, then treated the clip as content for a week. When Cenk and Hasan Piker were then banned from entering the UK in June 2026, Morgan publicly attacked the ban. Read that again. The man who spent five years helping to dismantle Meghan Markle for choosing not to live in this country suddenly discovered a principle about the right of American commentators to enter it. He booked Mehdi Hasan, Bassem Youssef, Glenn Greenwald, and Roger Waters and called it debate. He ran Middle East panels with three voices on one side and one on the other, week after week, and never once explained the arithmetic to his audience. It is not balance. It is booking. A booker curates who gets to speak. A journalist is accountable for what goes unchallenged. Morgan is a booker who calls himself a journalist, which means he gets the credit for every confrontation and none of the accountability for the platform he built around it. In 2022, he released a promotional trailer for his new show featuring Donald Trump. In the trailer, Trump appeared to walk out. He did not walk out. The footage was deceptively edited. A court found the edit unlawful. The clip had already been viewed millions of times. Morgan moved on. This is the machine. Manufactured confrontation, engineered virality, tactical outrage, and a clean exit every time accountability arrives at the door. Now watch who he chose most carefully, because this is where the machine becomes something else entirely. In June 2016, Piers Morgan met Meghan Markle for dirty martinis at the Scarsdale Tavern in Kensington. She was an actress, not yet a public figure, about to go on a first date with a man she had met online, who turned out to be a prince. Morgan has said the evening went well. What is documented is that she stopped returning his messages within weeks. What followed was a five-year public campaign, dressed as journalism, presented as public interest, that climaxed with Morgan walking off Good Morning Britain in March 2021 after fifty thousand Ofcom complaints in a single morning. He did not leave because he was wrong. He left because the audience had worked out that the woman under investigation was being investigated by the man she had once not texted back. He named Charles and Kate as the royal racists in November 2023. Not because he had evidence. Because naming them was the biggest available move that week. And the biggest available move is always the Morgan move. Now read what he did with Israel and Iran, because this is the part that should alarm everyone. In 2023, Morgan was the confrontational voice. He pushed back on pro-Palestinian guests. He cited the forty beheaded babies claim before the facts were fully established and pushed it hard. He was the man who asked the difficult question. Or he presented himself that way. By July 2026, John Mearsheimer was sitting across from him and explaining that America cannot win and that Iran has prevailed. Morgan listened. The Qatar Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, appeared on the show and called Benjamin Netanyahu a war criminal. Morgan did not press him with anything close to the energy he directed at guests in 2023. He called Trump's threats against Iran madness. He used the phrase brazen pre-admission of genocide about American foreign policy. In three years, Morgan had moved from Israel's interrogator to Iran's most comfortable English-language platform. He did not explain the move. He never explains the moves. He just makes them, and waits for the audience to follow. The man at the centre of this pivot is Professor Mohammad Marandi. Seyed Mohammad Marandi, born in Richmond, Virginia in 1966. His father Alireza Marandi served as Ayatollah Khamenei's personal physician and completed two terms as Iran's Health Minister. Marandi volunteered in the Iran-Iraq war. He served in the IRGC. In 2019, he was photographed in IRGC uniform and posted the photograph himself, publicly, without apology. He is a University of Tehran professor, a named adviser to Iran's nuclear negotiating team under both Rouhani and Raisi, and Iran International has described him as Iran's chief propagandist in English. During the 2019 tanker standoff, he disclosed details of an IRGC seizure before Iranian official channels had confirmed it. Morgan has called Marandi a government stooge. A propagandist. On air. To his face. And then booked him again. And again after that. Morgan presents the confrontation as rigorous journalism. Here is what it actually achieves: Marandi goes home with a larger international platform, martyr optics for the Iranian domestic audience, and documentary evidence that even hostile Western broadcasters cannot dismiss him. Morgan does not expose Marandi. Morgan launders him. Every booking is the service. Every clip of Morgan being tough is the product Marandi takes home to Tehran. Now look at who owns the building. Wake Up Productions Limited, Companies House number 13490132, declared GBP17.1 million in turnover in 2024. Cumulative revenue since launch exceeds GBP50 million. One employee on the books. Morgan holds 94 percent of the equity. On 9 July 2026, four new directors arrived simultaneously on the Companies House filing. Joseph Ravitch, co-founder of the Raine Group, built by two former Goldman Sachs co-heads of media banking, whose client list includes the Chelsea Football Club takeover, Manchester United, Endeavor, the UFC, and WWE. Gordon Rubenstein. Marc-Andre Zagar, representing Antenna Group, the Kyriakou family media empire, a four-generation Greek shipping dynasty with a World Economic Forum seat and deep Gulf-region connections. And Rashida Jones, former president of MSNBC, CEO of a venture called Uncensored from March 2026. Also in that boardroom: Elisabeth Murdoch. Rupert Murdoch's daughter. The patriarch who installed Morgan as a national editor at twenty-nine has a daughter on the board of the company Morgan built after Murdoch's own titles were found to have engaged in unlawful activity on Morgan's watch. The family retained a News UK revenue share arrangement in the deal. The Reuben Brothers, David and Simon, Britain's second-richest family in the Sunday Times 2026 list at a combined GBP27.9 billion, with stakes in Newcastle United and Arena Racing Company, are shareholders. Karl Brophy, Morgan's former Mirror colleague, sold his consultancy Red Flag Consulting to Ankura in February 2025 for EUR45 million, taking EUR33 million personally, and holds a seven-figure stake in Wake Up. The company raised USD27 million at a USD145 million valuation. Goldman alumni. A Murdoch. A Greek shipping dynasty with Gulf connections. Britain's second-richest family. A former MSNBC president. A Mirror veteran worth EUR33 million. This is what Morgan calls independent journalism. He is not the man at the edge of power, shouting in. He is the product power decided to back. The investment thesis is clean: Morgan's audience believes he is outside the establishment. That belief is the asset. The boardroom is the establishment. The audience is the return on it. When TalkTV finally pulled his linear television slot, the audience on that channel had collapsed to nine thousand viewers. Nine thousand. He moved to YouTube, declared it a revolution in independent media, and his new board of Goldman alumni and a Murdoch waved him off from the boardroom they all walked into on the same afternoon in July 2026. He was never the outsider's champion. He was always the insider who needed you to believe he wasn't. THE PROMOTER DOES NOT BLEED. THE FIGHTER DOES. FOR THIRTY YEARS MORGAN HAS BUILT THE RING, BOOKED THE CARDS, BANKED THE RECEIPTS, AND NEVER ONCE STEPPED INTO IT HIMSELF. EVERY CAREER HE HAS ENDED. EVERY LIFE HE HAS DAMAGED. EVERY PIVOT HE HAS MADE WITHOUT EXPLANATION. EVERY PLATFORM HE HAS HANDED TO A MAN IN AN IRGC UNIFORM. EVERY VOICEMAIL HE HAS DENIED UNDER OATH. EVERY PHOTOGRAPH HE HAS FABRICATED. EVERY DIRTY MARTINI HE HAS WEAPONISED. THE RING IS STILL HIS. THE BLOOD IS ALWAYS SOMEONE ELSE'S. THAT IS THE WHOLE CAREER. THAT IS THE WHOLE MAN.

Well, well, well. Look what the cat dragged in. Rachel Reeves. Sacked in July, offered a job, turned it down, and off to the backbenches in a huff. Now back on the timeline, five months later, with the only news she has left. A Christmas card competition. You told the country you were an economist at the Bank of England. You were in the complaints department. You told us it was the best part of a decade. It was five years, and you could not keep the dates straight on your own CV. Then off you went to HBOS, the bank that had to be rescued, and from there you were handed the finances of the United Kingdom. And you gave it away. The biggest tax rise in a generation, and you spent it anyway. Then Burnham arrived, and you were sacked. So now the woman who ran the Exchequer is asking a primary school to design her a card. Lovely. But it is a long walk from the Treasury to the school hall, and you know it. What next, Rachel. The staff canteen.
🎄The entries are in!🎄 I've now received all the Christmas cards from our wonderful local primary schools for my annual Christmas card competition. As with every year, I have a feeling choosing a winner is going to be very difficult! (1/2)

If this doesn't make your blood boil, you're an utter retard. We need mass deportations. I'm not talking about these guilty shits, I want to prevent ruined lives, not punish guilty perpetrators. PS I don't care what countries they came from or what they'll do to them. Get gone.

"Prevention works." And one million Londoners "reached". Two soft numbers and a slogan. Here is the trick, Sadiq. You have found the single line that is running your way and you are standing on it. Young people admitted to hospital after a knife attack, down 55 per cent. Genuine. Well done. Now the rest. Knife crime overall, up 38 per cent since you took office. Shoplifting, doubled. Robberies of businesses, up almost 200 per cent. Phone thefts at record levels. Violence against the person, up. And "reached" is not a measurement, it is a handshake. So no, you have not turned the tide. You have found the one number that is going your way and built a press release on it. Even the photograph is years old. Cherry picking is not prevention. And the tide does not read your press office.

A year as Deputy Leader, Lucy, and your message about what Labour actually stands for arrives with a photograph of Nigel Farage bolted to the bottom of it. Read that back. You set out to define your own party, and the picture you reach for is your opponent. Even your own post knows who is setting the terms. "Boldly, confidently, authentically Labour." Three adverbs and a badge. Meanwhile the fight is with Reform, and Reform picked the ground. And "whose side we are on" is the giveaway. A party that has to keep reminding you which side it is on is a party that is no longer sure. A year in. The megaphone is back. And it is still pointed at Farage.
It’s been an honour to serve as your Deputy Leader for the past year. I promised to take back the political megaphone and set out a clear message about what we stand for and whose side we are on. That’s exactly what we’re doing: being boldly, confidently, authentically Labour. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/l…

Ah, Angela. Bless. "The Tories committed an act of vandalism to Britain's economy." Quite so, dear. They did. And it is a lovely thing to say, right up until you remember the keys have been in your hand for two years and three months. Inflation. Tax. Borrowing. Gilt yields. Mortgage rates. Energy bills. Every one of them worse than the summer you took office. Yet the villain remains a man in a blue tie who left the building in 2024. One does admire the stamina. And you, of all people. You resigned over your own tax affairs, sat quietly on the backbenches for ten months, then walked straight back into the very same office. The woman who could not balance her own books now lectures the nation on its. As for "spreading money and power out of Westminster, into every postcode". Lovely sentence. It is not a plan. It is a slogan with a map. And while we are at it. Every postcode, is it. Or every mosque. Because the last time your seat looked tight, you were caught on camera cap in hand, begging the Muslim boys for a vote, promising them Palestine, thanking a room of men for getting you over the line. Barely a woman in the room, and you did not blink. So no, Angela. It is not a coalition. It is a shopping list, and you are still out there adding to it. Two years. The vandals went home long ago. The house is still a wreck. And the decorator keeps insisting she was never even there. Not for much longer, one suspects.
The Tories committed an act of vandalism to Britain's economy. Labour's job is to fix it. That means spreading money and power out of Westminster, into every postcode of this country.

So, Piers darling. Quite a little gallery of interested parties we have assembled here, all rather keen to hear your learned reply. The princess you launched your career on. The voicemail you swore you never played. The shares you walked away from. The photographs you fabricated. The duchess you investigated for the crime of not texting you back. The boardroom of Goldman men and a Murdoch. And the professor in an IRGC uniform you keep booking, then calling a stooge. Or do you intend to maintain your customary stately silence? One rather suspects you will do as so many in your firmament do, once they are finally exposed for what they truly are. Reach quietly for the off switch on the comments. Or, in a fit of uncharacteristic courage, opt for the cowardly block. You rather beat us to that last one, did you not. Still. The floor is yours, Ringmaster. The people of the United Kingdom, whom you have spent so many years instructing on the precise limits of their permissible thoughts, await your learned correction. Chop chop.

In December 2011 a man sat in front of a public inquiry, under oath, and told a story that proved his own paper had been inside somebody else's phone. Then he denied it. His name was Piers Morgan. He was giving evidence to the Leveson Inquiry by video link from Los Angeles. Robert Jay QC was questioning him. Lord Justice Leveson was listening. Morgan told them about a voicemail. Paul McCartney, still married to Heather Mills at the time, had left a message on her mobile. Morgan called it heart breaking. McCartney begging his wife to come home, then singing We Can Work It Out down the answerphone. He had heard it. He admitted that. Then Jay asked the only question that mattered. Who played it to you. Morgan would not say. He refused to name his source. He refused to say where he was. He refused to say when. So Leveson made the point for him. The only people lawfully entitled to listen to that message were Heather Mills, or somebody authorised on her behalf. Nobody else. If Morgan heard it, and Mills did not play it to him, then somebody had been inside her phone. Days later Heather Mills issued a statement. I can categorically state that I have never ever played Piers Morgan a tape of any kind, never mind a voice message from my ex-husband. There it is. The message left her phone without her knowing and arrived in the ear of a newspaper editor in 2001. That is what phone hacking was. That is the whole thing. One voicemail, one editor, one question he would not answer. And what did he tell the inquiry about hacking at his own paper. I don't believe so. To the best of my recollection, I do not believe so. In August of that year he had gone further. I have never hacked a phone, told anyone to hack a phone, nor to my knowledge published any story obtained from the hacking of a phone. Now hold the dates. Five years before Leveson, in 2006, Morgan wrote a column describing that voicemail in detail. He knew what he had heard and he knew how strange it was. It was in his own handwriting half a decade earlier. And still he sat in front of a public inquiry and said he could not say who had given it to him. He also called the suggestion he had listened to Ulrika Jonsson's voicemails to break her affair with Sven Goran Eriksson absolute nonsense. Asked whether he had once advised her to change the PIN code on her phone, he said he did not remember the specifics. The PIN code is the entire mechanism. If it is not changed, anyone can dial in and hear your messages. Morgan explained that himself in GQ in 2006. He understood exactly how it worked. He just would not admit it had been done at his paper. This is the trick, and he has never stopped using it. He never denies anything outright. He says to the best of my recollection. He says absolute nonsense and then admits he cannot remember. He keeps just enough distance from the fact to survive it, and then he moves on before anyone closes the gap. He never explained how that McCartney message got out of Heather Mills's phone. He never had to. The inquiry moved on. Nobody made him. And when reality gets too close now, he does the same thing in a different form. He blocks it. He blocked this account. So this account can read every word he writes and reply to none of it. He cannot see this post unless somebody sends it to him. And the post he keeps pinned to the top of his own profile, the first thing every visitor sees, is a clip of him telling Cristiano Ronaldo he has good abdominals. September 2019. Still there. One hundred and forty thousand likes. Eight point nine million followers. A bio that reads Media and News Company. And the masterpiece at the top of the page is a seven year old joke about a footballer's stomach. He is dodging it the way he dodged Leveson. The facts arrive anyway. THE VOICEMAIL LEFT HER PHONE. SHE NEVER PLAYED IT TO HIM. HE NEVER SAID WHO DID. AND HE HAS NEVER PAID A PRICE FOR KNOWING.

"The Iran war is driving up bills for families in Britain. That's why we're redoubling our efforts to find diplomatic solutions to the conflict." Ed Miliband, today, from a group photo in Istanbul. Eight foreign ministers, the first ever gathering of the two clubs. This is the diplomacy. In March, America told us how to soften the blow. Trump, on the country that "refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran": "Build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT." Hegseth, same day: "Last time I checked, there was supposed to be a big, bad Royal Navy that could be prepared to do things like that as well." Britain's reply. Call the war illegal. Let America bomb Iran from our bases anyway. Promise a minesweeper that waits for a peace deal. Trump's verdict on the refusal: "not Winston Churchill". And Burnham is no different. New face, same dither. Eight men in Istanbul, eight months late. We had the ships, the Strait, and the invitation. We chose to sit it out. Now the bill arrives, and Miliband blames the war. He was the Energy Secretary. There's a good lad.

A man is standing in a primary school with a bowl of porridge, telling you the government paid for it. He was sacked three months ago. "Government funding," says Darren Jones, as if the government has a wallet of its own. He was Chief Secretary to the Treasury. He knows there is only your money, taken out of your pay and handed back in smaller pieces than it went out. And he has spent all summer proving the state is broke. Within hours of being sacked in July, for being too close to the last Prime Minister, he was on social media calling the new one's £850m VAT cut "unfunded". Where is the money coming from, he asked. Now he is in a school, calling a bowl of porridge government funded. And the scheme is not keeping up. The manifesto promised free breakfast clubs for every primary child. So far, 750 schools, then 2,000 more. There are around 16,700 primaries in England. The pledge is £315m. The estimate to do it properly is over £500m. Schools have already started dropping out over the shortfall. So a sacked minister, three months into the back benches, five days before a Budget he has no part in, is holding up a bowl of porridge as proof that the state works. And the school has changed its name. Once Avon Primary, now Nova. That is the country in one sentence. A rebrand, a smaller bowl, and a Treasury man calling it a gift. Government funding, he calls it. He knows better than anyone. It is your money, and it is coming back in a smaller bowl.
Back at my old primary school - once Avon Primary, now Nova! 🔄 Nova is one of the first schools in Bristol North West to get government funding for breakfast clubs. That means a good breakfast for every child - and an easier morning for working parents.

Dr Jeevun Sandher says "we" taxed the oil and gas giants to make you better off. He did not. Rishi Sunak did, on 26 May 2022, at 25%. He called it temporary. Sandher's party raised it to 38% and extended it to 2030. Eight years for a one off. It is now a 78% headline rate on North Sea profits. Since Labour took office the North Sea has shed 25,000 jobs. The Economist ran the headline in January: the collapse of Britain's oil and gas industry. And it made families better off? Bills rose 4% on 1 October, to a three year high. And from late 2027 the levy is forecast to raise nothing at all, because profits have fallen so far there is nothing left to tax. So he is taxing a corpse and calling it a windfall. Dr Sandher is an economist. Trained by the Soros backed NEON, once head of economics at the New Economics Foundation. A think tank life from start to finish. And then his warning. Reform and the Conservatives would cut taxes on oil and gas giants. The Conservatives wrote the tax. So he is attacking the Tories for cutting their own tax, and Reform for getting there first. He says "we". It was a Tory tax. It is 78%. It has cost 25,000 jobs. It raises nothing from next year. We is the only word in that post he got to choose.
We taxed oil & gas giants' profits to make families and businesses better off. Reform and the Conservatives would cut taxes for oil & gas giants.

Richard Corbett has found a principle. Eighteen years an MEP. Four more advising the President of the European Council. Twenty two years inside the machine, never once elected by a British seat. Now, at seventy one, a Rejoiner with a view on democracy. He was answering Nile Gardiner, who says the British people had their say ten years ago. Corbett says a country that cannot change its mind is not a democracy. He should know. He wrote the textbook. Not a figure of speech, he is the co-author of the actual book, nine editions of it, on how the European Parliament works. And that institution has a method for changing a country's mind. Ireland, 2001, then again in 2002. Denmark, 1992, then again in 1993. Ireland, 2008, then again in 2009. Vote, lose, vote again, pass. That is not a nation changing its mind. That is a schoolmaster handing back the paper until it is right. So ask again, by all means. Ten years gone and the poll still wobbles. The others only needed a year between attempts. Hush. There will be no further blow. To strike you now would be to admit you still mattered. We shall simply walk over the heap you have made of yourself, smooth the wrist, and keep time with the march. Britain does not kneel to ask a rodent if it is ready.
So, for Nile Gardner, “respecting the will of the British people” means saying to them that they had their say 10 years ago and must now shut up and accept a costly Brexit that bears no resemblance to what was promised! If a country can’t change its mind, it’s not a democracy

The Home Secretary has read the internet and she is not impressed. "Some chatter on social media would have you believe that crime is out of control," says Shabana Mahmood. Chatter. That is you. And her facts, she says, come from a Substack. A columnist's blog, dressed up as the record. Then the selection. Four numbers down. Violence lowest since 1981. Robbery at a record low. Crime down 78% since 1995. Knife crime down 11%. Now the ones she skipped. Rape, 74,700 last year and rising. Sexual offences up. Domestic abuse up. Business robbery up by two thirds. Fraud up. Cybercrime up. Hate crime up. And here is why the falling ones fall. Seven crimes in a hundred end in a charge. Under three rapes in a hundred do. 74,700 rapes and barely 2,000 charges. So the numbers drop because nobody is caught. You cannot hide a body. Everything else is a form and a survey of people remembering. The credit claim is the giveaway. 1995 was John Major. 1981 was Thatcher. She has claimed the uniparty's entire record on behalf of a party two years in the job. And her own flagship, the grooming gangs inquiry, was announced last December and does not sit until 31 March. The scandal broke in 2011. Fifteen years to reach the start line, and a £100m pot for the men who did it. She calls it chatter. 74,700 rapes and 97 in a hundred ending with nobody charged. The chatter was right, Home Secretary. Start listening to it.
Some chatter on social media would have you believe that crime is out of control. The facts tell a different story. As @frasernelson has shown in his Substack today: Violence is at its lowest level since the crime survey began in 1981. Robbery is at a record low. Crime, excluding fraud, is 78% down on its peak in 1995. And the stats show this Government is delivering on its promises too: Knife crime is down 11%. Knife murders are at their lowest level in 35 years. Thefts including phone snatching have fallen by 20% in the last year alone. But I know there is more that we must do, and we will: We’ve put more than 3,800 extra neighbourhood officers into roles, with named, contactable officers for every neighbourhood. We’re introducing the most significant reforms to policing in a generation. We are tackling rising rates of violence against women and girls through our landmark strategy. And we are tackling crimes like fraud, more prevalent in our increasingly online world, with £250 million directed to this challenge in our Fraud Strategy published this year.

You quoted the same ONS release. Here is the rest of it, Home Secretary. Headline crime, the survey: 9.6 million incidents. No statistically significant change. Rape: 74,727, up 4%. Sexual offences: 217,567, up 4%. Robbery: up 10%, to 87,362. Robbery of businesses: up 91%. Fraud: 4.48 million, up 8%. Victims up 10%, to 3.8 million. Computer misuse: 798,000, up 15%. Harassment: 10% of adults, up from 8.3%. Anti-social behaviour: 40.9%, up from 35.5%. Other household theft: up 21%. Criminal damage: up 6%. Then the outcomes. 7.3% of all crime ends in a charge. 2.8% of rapes. 13% of knife offences. ONS, year ending March 2026.

Sarah Jones is the Policing Minister. She has news for you. Fatal knife attacks are at a 35 year low, she says. That one holds up. A body is hard to hide and even this lot can count a body. Pickpocketing and phone snatching are down 20%, she says. That one is police recorded. The Crime Survey, the one that asks you instead of the police, shows theft flat. No significant change. Your phone still goes. You have just stopped reporting it. And when you do report it? About 1% of phone snatches end in a charge. In London it is 0.3%. 95% are closed with nobody ever identified. Across all crime, seven offences in a hundred end in a charge. In 2015 it was fifteen. So crime is falling and nobody is being caught for it. She has been the MP for Croydon since 2017 and she set up the national campaign against knife crime. She is the minister for it now. Nine years, love, and the trophy is a phone nobody answers for. Still lots more to do, she says. She would know.
Fatal knife attacks are at their lowest level in 35 years. Pickpocketing and phone snatching are down 20% in the last year alone. Numbers mark a step forward- but still lots more to do.

Stratford International opened in 2009. It is called International. In seventeen years, not one international train has stopped there. Now Sadiq Khan wants to fix it. A £20m upgrade, talks with ministers, and Virgin waiting to take on Eurostar from 2030. Khan says connecting Stratford to Europe is a "no-brainer". It was a no-brainer in 2009. They built the station, named it International, and never ran a train to Europe. Seventeen years. The clue was in the name.
Stratford is one of London's best-connected transport hubs. Adding international rail services would take that connectivity even further, linking East London and beyond directly to Europe while supporting jobs, tourism and growth.

Andy Burnham is "grasping the nettle", says Labour, making the "difficult decisions" the Tories dodged for 14 years. Difficult. Right. So here is the bravery. Bus fares. Parking tickets. The extras on your holiday flight. And here are the nettles. Debt past £3 trillion and rising. A tax burden heading for the highest since 1948. Welfare now costing more than income tax brings in. And 4,000 people camped on the French coast, waiting for a boat. Fourteen years they had to watch and learn. They grasped the nettle. It was the bus fare.
Andy Burnham is grasping the nettle, making the difficult decisions that the Tories avoided for 14 years.
