Ableism isn’t always obvious. It can show up in attitudes, assumptions, policies, systems, and everyday interactions. And whether it’s intentional or not, the impact can be exclusion. This is Ableism is a campaign created with people with disabilities and their families to help us recognize ableism and understand its impact. Because we can’t challenge what we don’t see. ▶️ Watch the video and start the conversation. youtube.com/watch?v=OdK9Av9X… #ThisIsAbleism #InclusionCanada #DisabilityInclusion #EndAbleism

There are many benefits to the Ready Willing and Able program. One is the development of the Inclusive Workplace web resource. It provides actionable resources to assist people with intellectual disabilities or autism throughout their career planning, application, and workplace integration processes. It also provides great resources to employers. The website can be found here -> theinclusiveworkplace.ca/en/… Contact your Member of Parliament and urge them to support the renewal of Ready, Willing and Able. The Ready, Willing and Able (RWA) program is effective because it connects businesses facing labor shortages with an overlooked, highly motivated pool of talent: people with intellectual disabilities and autism. It helps employers fill actual open positions with their current staffing structures rather than creating temporary or artificial roles. Today’s Regina Leader Post newspaper shares tangible examples of how RWA is helping employers and employees and making a positive difference in communities. Inclusion Canada CEO Krista Carr also highlights the capabilities of job seekers and how RWA creates economic inclusion. “There’s a ton of talent there that could be employed within businesses here in Canada to fill labour market shortages, while also creating meaningful employment opportunities for people who want to work”. Ready, Willing and Able is a national initiative delivered by Inclusion Canada and the Autism Alliance of Canada and supported by the Government of Canada. Shout out to our friends at Inclusion Saskatchewan for supporting this news opportunity! @AllianceAutism

'The Ready, Willing and Able (RWA) program helps businesses fill labour gaps by connecting them with a largely untapped talent pool: job seekers with an intellectual disability or autism. It supports employers with free services spanning the entire hiring process, from candidate recruitment to long-term workplace integration. It has facilitated the hiring of over 6,300 jobs throughout the country and provided meaningful employment for people with intellectual disability and autism. Inclusion Canada together with the Autism Alliance of Canada wants to continue this progress! Please contact your MP express your support for a renewed Ready, Willing and Able! @AllianceAutism

Ready Willing and Able (RWA) is a national initiative delivered by Inclusion Canada and the Autism Aliiance of Canada in all provinces and territories. Since 2014, it has facilitated the creation of 6,300 jobs throughout Canada. While RWA’s core mission is to support job seekers with an intellectual disability or autism, it explicitly recognizes that these individuals often face layered, systemic barriers when they also belong to racialized, low-income, or Indigenous communities. To address this intersectionality, RWA operates dedicated, culturally adapted community initiatives. RWA partnered with ten community-based organizations across British Columbia, Ontario, Nunavut, and Saskatchewan. These partnerships ensure that employment delivery models are designed and led by the communities themselves, aligning local job matching with regional economic realities and cultural values @AllianceAutism

Inclusion Canada recently submitted feedback to the National Housing Council. The Council's independent review panels investigate systemic housing issues in Canada and deliver recommendations to the federal housing minister, who must respond within 120 days. Inclusion Canada's submission calls out a gap: the lack of inclusive, deeply affordable, accessible housing for people with intellectual disabilities. We outline our vision for housing in Canada, the system-wide gaps that exist today, and what government action is needed to advance the right to live in community.
