the story of the 21st century has been one of the total failure of governments and institutions to deal with any crisis.

I really just do not get this thing where people act like bringing up the social causes of crime is some unheard of radical thing. In the 1960s Hubert fucking Humphrey of all people talked about how he’d be a Black Panther if he was born Black.

“If you wanna be tough on crime you better be tough on causes” is a succinct line I haven’t heard before

The thing is that a competent party establishment should be able to easily defeat someone who was selected to run in the span of a few minutes
Maybe the process to rise from random guy to US Senator should take more than a few minutes theatlantic.com/politics/202…

If Democrats nominate Joe Biden, he may win, and we'll have four years of weak, feckless Democratic leadership. And then, in four years, he'll be defeated by a Republican Party even more openly white nationalist. If you nominate an Obama redux, you'll just get a worse Trump redux

Listening to the Norman interview again and it's just blatant how he is trying to gatekeep the Palestine issue for reasons that have nothing to do with Palestine. He says so openly: he attacks the right out of a fear of possible blowback against American jews for the Iran war.

*Adam Curtis Voiceover* In 1994, a group of men made a decision. They believed that if they could just make people *feel* that things were a little bit better, no one would notice that nothing had changed. They called it modernisation. Thirty years later, a lawyer from Holborn looked at the wreckage of that project and decided to try it again. But it was a fantasy. And when the world began to fall apart, it was revealed that that once again, nothing has really changed, and the lawyer from Holborn also believed in nothing.
Together, we will build a stronger and fairer Britain.

This sort of guff is a good reason why this government is loathed. You don't "save" people "real cash" by freezing fares at already unaffordable levels. You save cash by *reducing* fares. Boasting that something already too expensive will stay too expensive is ridiculous!
This Labour government is freezing rail fares for the first time in 30 years. We know people are struggling with the cost of living, so we've stepped in to save millions of passengers real cash. We are building a railway you can be proud of and rely on. lbc.co.uk/article/rail-fare-…

shouldn't opposition party leaders maybe oppose the government's bad policy?
Badenoch, Farage, Davey, Polanski should be standing shoulder to shoulder with the Government at a time when many Brits are under threat in a war zone. They should never be forgiven by voters who have family, friends, colleagues in the region. It’s not Politics, it’s war

then the greens can have like 30 MPs.
The Socialist Campaign Group need to be booted out of Labour. They’re poison to our Party and are the media darlings called upon to bad mouth Keir Starmer and the Party. Enough is enough. Call them out.

My family ancestor, Agnes Pochin, the founder of the suffragette movement in Manchester, did not dedicate her life to campaigning for equal rights for women to see that destroyed 100 years later by sectarian politics.

Turns out someone was for sure smoking something.
🚨 NEW: Labour's General Secretary has told an all-staff call that the Greens have no chance of winning the Gorton and Denton by-election on Thursday "The Green Party are clearly high on the Class A drugs they want to legalise if they think they’re in this race. We know they’re not. They know they’re not. Our promise rate is very strong and we're seeing lots of anti-Reform undecideds come over to Labour. A vote for the Greens is a vote for Tommy Robinson’s candidate - Matt Goodwin"

I'm old enough to remember when British people had enough confidence in Britain not to go in for this kind of plastic patriotism.
Why do the Green Party fly every flag but the British one? Why do they hate this country? It’s seriously concerning. Let’s hope for the right result later 🌹🌹🇬🇧🇬🇧
