Michael Jackson was only 20 when he released this in 1979. He WROTE it HIMSELF, co-produced it with Quincy Jones, and delivered that incredible blend of disco, funk, soaring strings, horns, and that unmistakable falsetto. This was the sound of an artist stepping into a whole new level of creative freedom. What a record.
