Joint Parliamentary Committee (#JPC) examining the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 held a consultation with representatives of various religious organisations, #NGOs and other stakeholders in Shillong to gather their views on the proposed legislation.
The meeting was chaired by JPC Chairman Dr Sanjay Jaiswal (@sanjayjaiswalMP), who said the #Shillong consultation was the committee’s first meeting outside New Delhi. He said the visit was undertaken following a request from Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma to allow the committee to understand the concerns of organisations in Meghalaya receiving foreign contributions.

Home Minister @AmitShah has directed to establish Foreigners Regional Registration Offices (FRROs) in all state capitals by next year. Currently FRRO offices have been established in 20 States.
@HMOIndia said that there has been a substantial increase in the number of foreigners visiting India for tourism, medical and education purposes, and there is a need to appoint #FRROs in all states.
The Ministry said, this will ensure service accessibility, enhance regulatory compliance and promote India as an attractive destination.

Supreme Court allows bursting of CSIR-NEERI-approved green firecrackers in Delhi-NCR from 6 AM to 7 AM and 8 PM to 10 PM on 7th and 8th November ahead of Diwali.
Firecrackers are prohibited within 300 metres of hospitals, nursing homes, health centres, old-age homes and notified silence zones. The Court also bans series firecrackers and those containing barium, and directs authorities to curb illegal and conventional firecrackers.

Establishing a strong global presence in the clean energy sector, Indian companies have signed the world’s largest supply commitments for more than 5.5 lakh Metric Tonnes (MT) of green hydrogen equivalent per year.
Since the launch of the National Green Hydrogen Mission in 2023, 23 agreements have been signed so far. More than 70% of this volume has been earmarked for export. In addition, investments of approximately ₹90,000 crore (about US$9.5 billion) are expected in this sector.

Supreme Court has permitted bursting of green firecrackers in Delhi-NCR on November 7 and 8, 2026, between 6 am and 7 am and 8 pm and 10 pm, in accordance with its earlier order dated October 15, 2025.
Supreme Court has directed that no firecrackers shall be burst within a 300-metre radius of hospitals, nursing homes, primary and district health centres, old-age homes and notified silence zones.
These areas, along with educational institutions, will be declared ‘No-Cracker Zones’ and appropriately marked and publicised, says Supreme Court.
