Just an economist trying to embrace a Good life. Politics is filthy; policy is important.

Jazz legend @ChickCorea will perform at Wait Chapel @WakeForest on Oct 24 at 7:30 p.m. A show with Corea alone would be special, but add in bass player Christian McBridge and drummer Brian Blade, and the show enters the realm of “can’t miss.” wakeforest.news/2MmsOC5 @JournalNow

Here's a map of the Good life integrating Adam Smith's ideas from both the WoN and TMS, Aristotle, the Stoics, and modern Psychometrics that I discussed at #FEEcon2019 on an entrepreneurship panel. @WFEudaimonia #econtwitter #FlagDay
Any labor econs who want to use the US Census Quarterly Workforce Indicators (QWI) should use the R package "tidyqwi" to pull data from their API. cran.r-project.org/web/packa… If you find a bug or a way to break it, I'll buy you a beer! #econtwitter @Mmoonaah @medewittjr @WFEudaimonia

Slightly different than what Edgeworth meant by hedonimeter...this site analyzes the happiness of the Twitterverse and displays it in a wonderfully interactive interface. hedonometer.org/index.html

When I was taking a differential equations course with physicists and engineers I often heard people say “economics isn’t rocket science you know.” My standard reply was, “no it is actually much more interesting and more difficult” because of of this:
Imagine how much harder physics would be if electrons had emotions.

InitiativeQ is a new currency built by ex-PayPal guys, currently given for free. If @initiativeQ becomes a leading payment network, economists estimate the reward would be around $50,000. Just need name and email and your spot is reserved. By invite only:initiativeq.com/invite/SSXsw…

This is one of the better ones from Smokin' Jay! No shade on Kap, this is just too funny.

Unfortunately, it feels more like the norm these days. Cherry-picking made an end-around to masquerade as reasoned discourse while people were shaking their heads at outright lies. Now we are left with only a small minority of experts able/willing to tell the difference.
This is probably an unpopular view, but I think cherry-picking evidence, at a certain level of severity, is morally equivalent to fabricating evidence.
