Byron Donalds agrees with @NICKIMINAJ: the media only lets you “stand on being Black” if you’re a Democrat.
@ByronDonalds and @JohnJamesMI are the Republican nominees for governor in Florida and Michigan. Either winning would be the first Black Republican governor in U.S. history. Only three Black governors have ever been elected—all Democrats.
If they were Democrats, it would be nonstop “historic first” coverage. Instead, silence. Same milestone. Different party. Race suddenly doesn’t matter.
That’s not progress. That’s selective outrage.
