I’ve been into Metal my whole life; seen Pantera, Slayer, Machinehead, Maiden, Korn, Black Sabbath, Kiss and dozens of others. None of them spewed shite about politics. Not one.

As a first gen thrasher and lover of classic metal, I just wanted to jump on here and say fk Hetfield and Lars (not u Kirk). This band hasn't been shit since Newstead left. And really after Black they've been in underwhelming. The Napster incident was the last straw for me.

Metallica becoming fascists was not on my bingo card.

If you don’t see politics everywhere, good for you. I wish I didn’t see it everywhere. But I do. And that’s just how it is. It doesn’t make me “miserable.” What makes me miserable is seeing our humanity being stolen from us from celebrities who don’t care about any of us.

James Hetfield is not showing true leadership. At best he is showing cowardice by fence sitting, at worst he is showing that he secretly supports Israeli genocide but can’t say that explicitly for fear of hurting his bank balance.

Music, like all art forms, IS political. The whole point of artistic expression is to bring to life the emotions and feelings that the world doesn’t always know how to express in everyday life. It’s to make a statement. They’ve lost the plot and who put them there.
