Renewable energy infrastructure is moving into the sea space. How are existing users of the sea, in this case fishers, taken into account during project planning? Check out our #openaccess paper from my PhD! doi.org/10.1016/j.erss.2023.… @uhishetland @BrydenCentre_EU @UHI_Research

The EU’s foreign ministers are behind closed doors in Brussels deciding whether to keep rewarding Israel with a 45 billion-euro trade deal - while it bombs civilians and starves an entire population. Time to #SuspendTheDeal. @BelgiumMFA , @prevotmaxime @kajakallas
The people of Gaza need food and water now. Time to #SuspendTheDeal or be complicit in starvation @KajaKallas @vonderleyen, the world is watching. #NoAssociationWithGenocide

20 years ago @PACBI called for the boycott of Israeli universities. Responding to this call, I wrote a book investigating Israeli universities' complicity in settler colonialism. Towers of Ivory and Steel: How Israeli Universities Deny Palestinian Freedom is out today @VersoBooks

Thanks for the feature @EcopsEmb! My work on MSP and conservation is with the @MSP4BIO_Project which I am working on at @VLIZnews , happy to connect with other ECOPs!
For today's #MeetourECOPs post, we would like you to meet @InneWithouck from @FWOVlaanderen. Inne is investigating the coherence between marine spatial planning and conservation planning and the gaps and opportunities at play in various test sites across European waters.

Super interesting visit to the #BayofCadiz @MSP4BIO_Project test site where we learnt about close interactions between human activities and the dynamics of the wetland system!
Our project partners while visiting the pilot site of the #BayofCadiz, observed traditional fishing activities, engaged with local fishermen and NGOs to discuss their challenges, and explored #restoration activities and solutions. More ℹ️ on #MSP4BIO here:msp4bio.eu/

Best of luck to the SMRU et al team setting off today to cycle from Fife to Orkney for the #EIMR conference! Reducing thier carbon footprint whilst raising money for an awesome cause 🥺💪🏽 Donate at the link below to make their trip extra worthwhile 💙✨️ Good luck team! 🚴‍♀️💪🏽 – at Cutts, Scotland
We've been having many conversations about the carbon footprint of travelling to conferences here at SMRU so a group of us decided to cycle to the @eimr2024 conference in Orkney to raise awareness of climate change and raise money for a good cause justgiving.com/crowdfunding/…

The language of the Anthropocene has it wrong: not all people are equally responsible for climate breakdown. The global North has contributed 92% of emissions in excess of the planetary boundary. The global South has contributed 8%.

1.9 million people displaced, essential civilian infrastructure decimated, refugee camps bombed, widespread famine, malnutrition, infant dysentery, people reduced to eating animal feed... And the US government vetoes a ceasefire. It is pure depravity and everyone can see it.
