What happens when research moves beyond the classroom and towards real-world solutions?
Through Research for Impact (R4i), Innov8 Hub is helping reshape how academics approach research in Nigeria by connecting knowledge with problem-solving, technical expertise and the possibilities of innovation.
Hear directly from participants of Cohort 34 as they share their experiences and the difference this journey is making.
Research may begin with a question, but impact takes collaboration.
On Friday, we wrapped up the 34th cohort of Research for Impact (R4i) at Innov8 Hub, bringing two weeks of learning, critical thinking and cross-disciplinary collaboration to a close.
Throughout the program, these academics explored how to move beyond identifying problems to thinking through the solutions their research could make possible.
Working alongside Innov8 Hub’s technical teams, they exchanged perspectives, tested ideas and began bridging the gap between what research reveals and what can be built.
The closing event marked the end of the cohort, but the possibilities do not end there.
The ideas, conversations and collaborations established during these two weeks are part of a bigger ambition: building stronger connections between academia, technical expertise and real-world problem-solving.
Innov8 Hub has been shortlisted for the 2026 QS Reimagine Education Awards by @QSCorporate .
Our Eco Lab Environmental Education Outreach has been recognised in the Developing Emerging Skills & Competencies category, placing the project among the leading entries in this year’s global awards.
From 2,226 submissions, the application moved through four rounds of review by a panel of 1,634 international higher education and EdTech experts.
For us, this recognition goes beyond a shortlist. It affirms the importance of creating practical learning experiences that equip young people with the knowledge, skills and mindset to engage with real-world environmental challenges.
Through Eco Lab, we continue to explore how environmental education can move beyond the classroom and become a pathway to practical skills, innovation and sustainable action.
We are proud to carry this recognition from Nigeria onto a global platform and grateful to everyone contributing to the work.

Every solution starts with a question.
During the Research for Impact (R4i) program, as usual the academics come together to discuss the problems to solve and the solutions they want to develop.
Through these roundtable brainstorming sessions, they share ideas, challenge assumptions and begin to shape their concepts. But it doesn't stop there.
The real work happens in the collaboration between the academic and Innov8 Hub's technical teams.
Together, they move from discussing an idea to defining a solution.
A little more green around the Hub today. 🇳🇬💚
From our labs to our workspaces, we’re celebrating Nigeria’s Independence Day with a touch of green and a reminder of what we’re building towards.
A Nigeria where ideas can become solutions, people have the skills to create, and homegrown innovation can shape the future.
And while today is a public holiday, some of the work continues. Because ideas don’t always wait for the next working day, and innovation doesn’t stop.
So, from a Hub that’s still buzzing with ideas, projects and possibilities, we say:
Happy Independence Day, Nigeria! 🇳🇬💚

Reliable electricity isn’t just about generating power. It’s also about how that power is measured, shared and managed.
At iFAIR 4, Ifeanyi Christwin, Founder & CEO of Switch Electric @whyNotSwitch , worked with Innov8 Hub’s technical experts to build a 3-phase metering solution for peer-to-peer energy distribution.
In simple terms, it helps make it possible to accurately measure and manage electricity as it is shared between users within a local energy network.
A step towards making decentralised, renewable energy more practical for communities.
This is what @iFAIRIsraelNig is designed to enable: taking promising ideas, connecting innovators with the technical expertise they need, and helping turn those ideas into tangible solutions to real-world problems.
Research should not end with just knowledge and publication.
At Innov8 Hub, we believe research can be the beginning of something more: a solution, a prototype, a product, a new enterprise or a measurable impact.
Today, we begin the 34th cohort of Research for Impact (R4i). An initiative of @TETFundNg implemented by Innov8 Hub.
After 33 cohorts, the story is no longer just about training researchers. It is about building a pipeline that moves ideas from research to impact.
And with every new cohort, that pipeline grows.
What if your solar system could make smarter decisions for you?
Meet Team Katex Power, one of the teams from iFAIR 4.
They developed an intelligent power management system designed to help solar users manage their energy more efficiently.
When battery power gets low, the system automatically identifies and switches off the highest-consuming load, helping preserve the remaining energy for other essential appliances.
It is a simple idea built around a real problem: how do we make limited energy go further?
From an idea to a working prototype, Team Katex Power along side Innov8 Hub's techical experts spent the @iFAIRIsraelNig journey testing, building and refining their solution.
This is what innovation looks like when innovators are given the space, tools and support to turn problems into practical solutions.
