The #JulyStimulus includes an important 6 Month Waiver on Commercial Rates ✔️
But the degree to which we tax main street shops cannot return to where it was pre-Covid.
Business will lead us through this crisis if government is guided by an entrepreneurial philosophy & cuts tax.
During the financial crisis temporary tax hikes like USC became permanent.

When the rate of CGT was dropped from 40% to 20% in Budget 1998 the money raised under the tax expanded dramatically. In the first year of the change CGT receipts nearly doubled.
We halved the tax rate and brought in nearly twice as much money.

At a time when we have 22% unemployment in Ireland, €264 million on pay rises for politicians and public servants is a scandal.
Expecting small businesses to pay part-time staff €350 a week is madness.
You would think Labour have seen enough job losses in their own party without extending that trend to wider society.
“We should be embarrassed as a nation that there are people in this country who are earning less than €350 a week.
Why are 23% of Irish workers on low pay?” @geraldnash on @TodayRadioRTE #TodayRTE
