And that’s all from us and @hospital_senses at the workshop today! Thanks so much to our cohort and our speakers, it’s been really wonderful to hear from you and learn from your experiences. @CrookEleanor @JMCAnderson2 @LucyBurscough @barryjamesgibb
From the perspective of the researcher, this also can raise challenges in that the researchers are often the middle point between the funder and the artist(s), and that funder expectations can limit the freedom available to artists and researchers
@hospital_senses
Reminder that funding bids don’t take into account the time invested in drafting those bids (especially for freelancers). Applications for funding are a gamble and it can be difficult to factor this into planning
@hospital_senses
What we’ve seen from all of our speakers today, is the enormous range of possible creative and artistic opportunities for collaboration that are available to researchers
@hospital_senses
@LucyBurscough also outlines some of the snags that come from collaboration, and how certain projects necessitate the involvement of partners who have different aims and intentions for the outputs
@hospital_senses
It’s brilliant to see how Lucy’s work brings patient stories to the fore, in such a creative and powerful way
@hospital_senses
And our final speaker is @LucyBurscough, sharing her experience of telling stories in her work
Key words coming up again: importance of a clear brief, parameters and trust in creative collaboration
@hospital_senses
Jade describes herself as an artist and community curator, because those two roles interact and influence each other
@hospital_senses
@JMCAnderson2: you can’t expect a community to come to you. If you want to collaborate with a community, go to the community and engage in their spaces
@hospital_senses
So grateful to @JMCAnderson2 for sharing this invaluable interest into your process in developing the ‘I AM…’ project
