Google just made one of the hardest parts of building a crypto-breaking quantum computer a lot easier.
We started moving Algorand to post-quantum signatures in 2022. 2.7M+ post-quantum transactions later, no chain has more.
Some magical progress towards "magic state" in quantum!
Our @GoogleQuantumAI team has demonstrated "magic state cultivation" on physical hardware for the first time. The result is a 40x error reduction on our Willow processor vs. previous methods, achieving a state-of-the-art 99.99% logical fidelity.
It's another step towards useful, error-corrected quantum computers to help solve the hardest problems. The result is published in Science today, watch the video below to see how it works

This afternoon, Senate Democrats proved they were never truly serious about protecting consumers and preserving American leadership. I sat at the table with Senate Democrats working in good faith to get this done while they played games.
For over a year, they presented demands and the second we met them, they made new demands and moved the goal posts. Today they voted against real limitations on politicians’ personal crypto investments. They voted against protecting American consumers from the scammers and fraudsters this bill would have shut down. They voted against American leadership, and handed China and every one of our foreign competitors exactly what they wanted. Democrats chose politics over the American people—again. That’s not leadership on their part, that’s surrender to their radical, socialist base.
The once-proud Democratic party is anti-consumer and pro-illicit finance, anti-ethics, anti-free enterprise, anti-worker, anti-livable wage jobs, and pro-socialism. The Democrats are now anti-American. Sad!

🚨 UPDATE: This Algorand × U.S. Air Force patent story is actually stronger than I initially reported.
Yesterday I covered U.S. patent application US 2025/0363486 A1, describing blockchain-based Secure Multiparty Computation with Algorand explicitly used in the architecture.
There’s an important update. 🧵
The application is no longer merely pending.
The USPTO granted the invention as:
U.S. Patent 12,651,251 B2
on June 9, 2026.
And there’s another detail worth highlighting.
@Algorand isn’t simply mentioned somewhere in the patent description.
It appears explicitly in the granted claims.
The claims describe packing MPC data into an Algorand blockchain transaction and transmitting it using an Algorand protocol.
That distinction matters.
This isn’t:
“A patent happens to reference Algorand.”
The granted intellectual property specifically claims an implementation using Algorand transactions and the Algorand protocol for communication between MPC participants.
And the government connection remains important.
The patent states that the invention was made with government support under FA8750-21-2-0505, awarded by the Air Force Research Laboratory, with the government retaining certain rights in the invention.
One important caveat:
This is not evidence that the U.S. Air Force has operationally deployed Algorand.
It is evidence that @usairforce Research Laboratory-supported research resulted in granted U.S. intellectual property explicitly covering an Algorand-based implementation.
That is already significant enough without overstating it.
Patent application → granted patent.
@Algorand reference → Algorand explicitly in the claims.
