Adam's discussion about his 60" corn w/ growing cover crops (one goal is to graze all winter) was a perfect intro to Denise Schwab @ISUExtension to discuss grazing cover crops & the management that goes with it. We've got a good group of the next generation as well today!
Deb Schwab @ISUExtension Iowa Beef Center gave us a great overview on the benefits with grazing on #covercrops - including reduced feed costs. – at Iowa, USA
Mark Mueller is a @SoilPartners farmer in Waverly & Iowa Corn Dist 3 Director. When asked about the financial benefits, his response? "I've seen reduced weed pressure, increased organic matter, & increased water permeability." And says "the benefits are more than the minor cost."
Today we traveled to the Nechanicky farm in Buckingham for a well attended field day. Right now, Mark Mueller is describing his conservation practices he implements on his operation. #conservation #rowcroprun #covercrops @IowaSeedWQI @AdamNechanicky @practicalfarmer #waterquality
And that's a wrap! See you at the next field day on August 6th in Buckingham with Adam Nechanicky, please RSVP facebook.com/IowaSeedAssocia… #covercrop
