Dearest @amanpour , you opened doors for generations of women in journalism, and through them brought the world face to face with people and suffering it might otherwise have overlooked. The knowledge, wisdom and extraordinary talent you bring cannot simply be replaced. You will leave a space at @CNN that no one else can fill. I’m so grateful to know you. I will always cherish your support for my advocacy on the international stage and your empathy for what the Yemeni people have endured. For those of us trying to make the world listen, that understanding means more than you may realise. You have spent decades bearing witness to humanity at its most wounded. Behind the reporting are experiences and stories whose weight the audience can never fully know. I hope this next chapter gives you room to exhale, peaceful solitude when you seek it, and time for the people and things that bring you joy. You have changed what journalism can be and who gets to shape it. Wherever you go next, that legacy belongs to you and to every woman who found the courage to follow because you went first. #Amanpour
