Caging birds is morally reprehensible but rehoming an elderly cockatiel was the best decision I've made in ages.
She is such a cool little dude to hang out with and I feel very lucky to know her and to have earned her trust and to have my ears pecked by her when she gets grumpy.
She still can't fly very far (although we've been working on it and she's made huge improvements since last year) but I rarely close her cage and she can pretty much do whatever she wants which as far as I can tell consists of falling alsleep on me and bothering me for head rubs.
