𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗝𝗮𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝗡𝘆𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 I am proud to congratulate my wife and First Lady of the Navajo Nation, Jasmine Blackwater-Nygren, on being elected to serve as Apache County Attorney in Arizona. Thank you to the 17,182 voters who cast their ballots for Jasmine. Your support reflects the trust you have placed in her leadership and commitment to serving the people of Apache County. As the first Native American and first woman to serve as Apache County Attorney, Jasmine’s leadership marks a historic milestone for Apache County and a proud moment for our Navajo Nation. I have seen firsthand the dedication, determination, and heart she brings to public service. From her service in the Arizona Legislature to her work as an attorney, she has remained committed to the communities she serves. Her journey shows our young people what is possible through education, hard work, and a commitment to helping others. I hope young Native women see her example and know they belong in courtrooms, elected office, and every place where decisions shape our future. Jasmine – I am proud of the leader you are and the example you set. Congratulations as you continue this important work for the people of Apache County. -Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren

Last night, Native women made history. The first Native woman governor. The first Native woman in the U.S. Senate. New York’s first Native congresswoman. The first woman president of the Navajo Nation. Read/Share my latest via Indigenous Insider: indigenousinsider.substack.c…

I carry the lessons, strength, and resilience of the fierce Pueblo women who raised me. It is the honor of my lifetime to serve New Mexico as your 33rd Governor — and to make history as the first Native American woman elected Governor in our nation’s history. I will always fight for the people and communities that made me who I am. Let’s get to work.

Nobel’i bekliyor muydunuz? — Ortadan. Tek kuralım bu. İlham kaynağınız? — Homeros. Antik hikâyelerin bugün hâlâ geçerli olmasının nedeni ne? — Geçerli değiller. Onların bizim için geçerli olmasıyla ilgilenmiyorum. Bizim onlara layık olmamızla ilgileniyorum. Sıkılmaktan kaçınmak neden önemli? — Kim sıkılmayı sever ki? Uyumak mı, Homeros okumak mı? Günün geri kalanında ne yapacağıma böyle karar veriyorum. Hayat sıkıcı. Genç yazarlara tavsiyeniz? — Ortadan başlayın.

🌎 Indigenous Women have always led. And they will continue to pave the way. The first International Day of the World’s Indigenous Women and Girls marks a milestone built on decades of organizing, advocacy and collective leadership by Indigenous Women, from their territories to international spaces. This first commemoration also opens a new chapter: turning recognition into action. Turning commitments into policies and budgets. Ensuring that participation translates into decision-making power. Making sure resources reach Indigenous Women-led organizations directly, flexibly and sustainably. And ensuring that their knowledge, proposals and priorities are part of the decisions shaping our shared future. With this second position paper, FIMI closes its campaign around this first global commemoration, while looking ahead to the journey that begins now. Because Indigenous Women’s leadership does not begin with international recognition. It comes from generations of organizing, resistance, knowledge and collective action. ✨ We invite you to read “Indigenous Women Have Always Led | Part 2: From Territorial Leadership to Global Commitment” and explore FIMI’s reflections and calls to action for this new chapter. 👉 Read the full blog: bit.ly/4hGMDlh #IndigenousWomen #IndigenousWomenLead #InternationalDayOfIndigenousWomen
