About 1,195 people were killed on Oct 7 2023. Roughly 30% (around 350-380) were military or security personnel, including ~280 IDF soldiers (many conscripts/reservists) plus police and local response teams. Exact share who were former IDF among the civilian majority is not publicly tallied, though most adult Jewish Israelis have served due to conscription.
