Yesterday, the @Israel_MOD and @DefenceCyprus signed an agreement for the acquisition of a new Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV), at a ceremony held in #Nicosia.
Under the agreement, #Israel 🇮🇱 will supply #Cyprus 🇨🇾 with a new patrol vessel built by Israel Shipyards and equipped with advanced Rafael naval systems. The systems aboard Cyprus’s existing Israel Shipyards-built patrol vessel will also be upgraded.
This agreement marks another important step in strengthening Israel–Cyprus defence and security cooperation, enhancing our capabilities and reaffirming our shared commitment to regional stability.

Millions of Israelis are heading to the polls to elect the 120 members of the #Knesset, Israel’s parliament.
Elections are an opportunity for citizens aged 18 and above, to make their voices heard and help shape their country’s future.
Across Israel, people from different cultures, religions and communities all have a part to play in this shared democratic process.
As Israel’s Ambassador to #Cyprus, I already cast my vote earlier this month in #Nicosia. Today, millions of Israelis are doing the same back home.

How does 🇮🇱 democracy work?
In #Israel, every citizen aged 18 and over has the right to vote.
One vote determines which party they support.
The results determine how the 120 seats in the Knesset are distributed, which parties enter parliament and who can form a government.
A 3.25% electoral threshold. A parliamentary majority of 61 seats.

I had a good call with my friend, Cyprus Foreign Minister @ckombos.
We discussed the Turkish-Libyan maritime boundary agreement, which undermines the rights and interests of several countries in the Eastern Mediterranean.
We also discussed bilateral relations between Israel and Cyprus, as well as Israel’s relations with the European Union.
I will continue working to strengthen the close ties between Israel and Cyprus!

Marking the 66th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Cyprus, our Embassy brought together officials, diplomats and friends of Cyprus at a reception in Tel Aviv on 20 October. 🇨🇾🇮🇱
In his video message, President Isaac Herzog highlighted the special relationship between Cyprus and Israel.
“Our strategic partnership is built on shared values, converging interests and a relationship of trust.”
Ambassador Korneliou emphasised, highlighting practical cooperation connecting our societies and economies. He also recalled President Herzog’s third visit to Cyprus in September as a reaffirmation of our growing ties.
The Ambassador renewed the call for a reunited, peaceful and prosperous Cyprus: “Cyprus is too small to remain divided, but it is big enough for Greek-Cypriots and Turkish-Cypriots to live together in peace.”
Representing the Israeli Government, Minister for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism Amichai Chikli stated: “We are neighbors by geography and allies by choice.” He stressed our partnership’s contribution to security and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean.
A rare coin from ancient Salamis in Cyprus, recently discovered near Ashdod, offered a reminder of the maritime and commercial ties connecting our lands some 2,500 years ago.
