This Italian Air Force P-72A (reg. MM62298) is returning to Sigonella AB after participating in Exercise Eunomia 2026.

As expected, the P-8A that arrived in Varna yesterday operated over the Black Sea today. However, this was most likely not a SIGINT mission, but rather a maritime patrol mission linked to recent Russian attacks against cargo ships in the area.
In any case, this is the first time in several months that we have tracked a P-8A operating in the area.

In addition to the French Atlantique, a US Navy P-8A Poseidon from Sigonella also arrived at Constanța yesterday (thanks @lnteISky).
While French Atlantique aircraft usually operate with their ADS-B transponders switched off, US Navy P-8A Poseidons generally conduct their missions in a trackable manner. It will therefore be interesting to see whether the American aircraft operates over the Black Sea and, if so, how it conducts its mission.
It has been months since we last tracked a US Navy P-8A Poseidon mission over the Black Sea.
