Indian filmmakers, when asked to make a contemporary modern-day film their characters r Misogynistic Animal, Toxic, Peddi, Pushpa But when they have a Genuinely Toxic character like Ravan, they suddenly try to portray him as a feminist #Ramayana
From what I am hearing from friends, Lakshman has been made the villain of Ramayana as opposed to Ravan who is the subaltern socialist feminist hero and Rama is a supporting character. Ayodhya is unequal while Ravan Raj has no inequality. Pathetic. This is a recurring problem in bollywood. The villain is glorified and the hero is sidelined. In Padmaavat too, the movie could be called Khilji. He was the main character, Shahid Kapoor was a sidekick and the main villain was not Khilji but the green-eyed Brahmin Raghav Chetan.
Thing about Ramayana is that it is quite a black and white story of good vs evil represented by Ram and Ravan respectively. Bollywood has never done religious adaptations properly unlike say Telugu cinema. Apparently Nitesh Tiwari conducted research for 10 years. Who was responsible for this Ravana glorification?
