Amazing time with lovely people ❤️ at @thebeat999fm Brunch yesterday!

There’s something about turning 16. It’s that moment where everything feels like a first. A first kiss. A first sip of something you know you shouldn’t be sipping. A first party where the night feels endless. For me, 16 is not just an age. It’s a reflection of a journey. The Beat 99.9 FM has been my home for most of my adult life. It’s where I’ve learned, where I’ve failed, where I’ve triumphed, and where I’ve had the privilege of shaping something bigger than all of us, the sound and spirit of Afrobeats. It’s not just about winning. It’s about being able to do the kind of work you believe in, the kind that matters. From day one, that’s been our heartbeat. When it wasn’t cool to play Nigerian music on the radio, we did it anyway. When people thought only foreign acts could sell shows here, we doubled down on Nigeria. On September 9, 2009, we planted our stamp on this culture, and we never looked back. The last four years at the helm have been intense. The pressure, the expectations, the responsibility. But also, the privilege. Greatness isn’t just about the win. It’s about recognizing the journey, the sacrifices, and the culture that birthed us. Leading the sharpest minds and most gifted voices across Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt has been the greatest honor of my life. To everyone who has been rocking with us from day one, we love you. To @chrisubosi, who bet on a kid from UNIBEN, that gamble turned into gold. To my GM @DayjeeA, thank you for demanding more, for never letting me settle. And to the management and every single talent I’ve worked with this is your win as much as mine. I am a firm believer in not needing trophies to validate your greatness. But recognizing that sometimes the real victory is in giving flowers to those who inspire us. Tonight, this isn’t just about The Beat. It’s about the culture, the fans, the artists, the community that made this all possible. We’re building something that will outlive us. Something future generations will point to and say, that’s where it started. So let’s raise a glass. To every record spun. To every microphone that carried all our voices, to every risk that paid off Sixteen years in, and the story is still being written.
