Imagine being an app founder and having the judgment of a founding product designer:
- holistic product flow thinking
- no disjointed features
- pulling on the right growth levers
7+ years of experience and a few late nights later. It’s something I wish I had when I started.
Not a boring theoretical ebook, but a modular interlinked card system that can be applied to any product at any stage.
Sitting on 100+ pages of product design gold.
This playbook gives you a founding-designer lens to map end-to-end flows that onboard, activate, retain, and monetise.
And if you’re a designer, this will position you as an authority, maybe even get you a seat at the table.

Lifecycle moves conversion. When I say conversion in relation to lifecycle, I mean people who have given you their email address, or signed up for an account, but they haven't bought from you yet.
This is often the biggest group of people in your email database, and a huge opportunity to tackle, especially if you've only focused on short-sell-convert-immediately acquisition bets.
Make and/or optimize these lifecycle automations to move your conversion metric:
- Welcome
- Nurture
- Activation
- Reactivation
On the other side of the work is more first-time purchases.
Launched a side project! Searchcast is a podcast audio search engine: searchcast.co/
- Find the best podcast clips on any topic
- Listen to clips directly in the search results
- Search just like you do on Google everyday
You can also get new podcast clips on topics you're interested in directly to your inbox daily, weekly, or monthly. Real email example attached.
Search for something—podcast clips you've been trying to track down, favorite moments from your go-to shows, topics you want to learn more about—and let us know how we can make it better.
We've already indexed and transcribed some of your favorite shows. Let us know what other podcasts you'd like us to add too.
noreply@ emails are never the move.
- They make your business feel inaccessible
- Especially in the case where a customer has a legitimate question in response to one of your emails and they realize while they're replying that it's not going to send to anyone
- And then they need to track down your support email to ask their question
Better moves:
- Do an informative yet friendly email address for emails where you'd normally use noreply@ -- like transactions@ notifications@ hi@ support@ robots@ hey@ hello@
- Encourage replies in emails, this builds trust and lets customers know you're always there for them if they need it
- Have email replies go to a monitored inbox, ideally support
- Or set up an auto reply with an email that has a form link, that can then feed into your support workflows
A few friends and I made the the audio of 570 episodes of @myfirstmilpod searchable: searchcast.co/podcast/My%20F…
Fun finds:
- 18 clips of the guys saying "no small boy stuff"
- @ShaanVP's copy my trip business idea (I've been looking for this clip for awhile now)
- 6 times where @thesamparr talked about Marathon Ranch
- 8 times where they talked about Sara's List
You can search MFM's audio plus a bunch of other podcasts here: searchcast.co/

E-commerce lifecycle case study up from my work with True Botanicals. Some highlights:
- New abandoned checkout flow increased month-over-month revenue across all abandonment flows by 50%
- Time to refill flow update led to 3.3x year-over-year revenue growth and True Botanicals' highest refill revenue performance months in history
- Uncovered a profitable segment, High Spenders, and crafted a series focused on high ticket items that drove $37k in incremental revenue in month one alone
Then there's our dynamic first purchase onboarding flow, birthday and loyalty flows, and a bunch of other ideas we've come up with and knocked out along the way together.

The two keys to creating great content:
1: Have something valuable to say
2: And the ability to say it
You unlock the first key through lived experience from knowing and doing the thing you’re saying something about.
This is why 99% of content on the internet is garbage. Because most content writers aren’t an expert on the topic they’re writing about—they are just repackaging and regurgitating other repackaged and regurgitated nothing-valuable-to-say content.
The valuable stuff is in the minds and hearts of people doing deep work and deep study everyday. It’s a gift when they carve out the time to share their hard-earned insights.
You unlock the second key by getting good at writing, speaking, and chatting on in front of a camera. Communicating well is a skill, and even if you’re an expert on a topic, you may be bad at sharing the goods.
You have two options here. Get good at communicating or partner with a person who’s good at communicating to share the valuable things you want to say.
In the context of a content marketing program, partner subject matter experts and writers together to unlock both keys.
Have something valuable to say + the ability to say it = great content.

Big fan of Really Good Emails, Milled, and Email Love which have tons of great email designs. I want the exact same thing but for SMS and push notifications too. I think figuring out the UI/how to display them is a tricky blocker.
Write down the words. Design the UI. Code the thing. Take a terrible first pass on a piece of paper. Ignore the gurus. Stop reading books. Ship it.
The formula is doing the work.
Adding this to my read-soon list. Haven’t read Obviously Awesome yet, so will prolly read both at the same time. Also I hope this book gets wayyy bigger than the Storybrand thing.

Came across a new creator today that I like. He teaches how to sell digital products.
modestmitkus.com
The dude uses super straightforward, no fluff copy. He also makes a short video for each section in his articles, super smart.
I’m in the “consume a bunch of stuff” phase right now when it comes to creator/course stuff so I’m pumped to take his course.
