If you're just starting out in Content Creation or on a new platform and unsure where to start, do what I do: - Define your strengths! Are you super knowledgeable? Are you funny? Are your reactionary? Are you a community builder? Down to earth? Larger than life personality? Being honest with yourself (without being HARSH to yourself) is an excellent start to focusing on your strengths while identifying weaknesses you can WORK on. Make sure you aren't punishing yourself because of comparison. We're only going to use it as an identifier, not a judgement. - Emulate your heroes BUT DON'T STEAL! You ever listen to a band for a few minutes and are then able to nail down every one of the bands they drew influence from? This is okay, most folks starting out sound like someone else. Your references are partial inspiration, but don't get lost in just being referential. Don't steal other's work, but look to it as inspiration for your own. They've clearly unlocked SOMETHING that makes you engage, so write down how their work makes you feel in one column. Reflect on that and find your own entry into it. This takes time and drafts and re-drafts before finally... - Execute your will! Once you've defined your strengths and done drafts and drafts and built up the creative muscle: Make stuff. Lots and lots of stuff. Make stuff that sails to high heights, make stuff that trips out the gate and fails PUBLICLY. The failures are GREAT for knowing what not to do next time, but are valuable in the attempt. Don't judge yourself by social numbers (that's for later and even then kinda useless when starting IMO). Just make a bunch of stuff. Someone will find it. Someone will engage in it. Someone will share it. I hope this is useful to someone 🫰
