If I was starting from zero (or in debt), here's exactly what I'd do to hit £1m net worth in 10 years:
Yesterday, the power grid wasn't resilient enough to handle some wind.
Today, we learn that their may be a drought for parts of the UK before Christmas.
We have some of the highest energy bills and level of taxation across the globe.
Yet we receive some of the worse level of basic services.
How did we let the country get to a point where we pay the most but get the least?
Things you can’t control this week:
• Market volatility
• Political commentary
• Company earnings results
• Macroeconomic data prints
Things you can control this week:
• Your savings rate
• Your asset allocation
• Automated contributions
• Your reaction to what happens
Focus on your plan, not the chaos.
The main reason I don’t hold a lot of cash is not a financial one, it’s a psychological one.
Its called: Artificial scarcity
When I first started making money in my 20s, I realised I loved the feeling of seeing the number increase in my current account, I got addicted to it.
But I realised, the more the number grew the more it changed my behaviour, which I didn’t like.
When I had more money in my current account, I felt richer.
I was spending more frivolously and to be honest, wasting money that could have been better spent elsewhere.
I then went on to realise how much I was losing by keeping my money in a low interest savings account, whilst inflation was making me poorer over time.
So, I was losing out twice.
Wasting money by overspending and becoming poorer due to inflation.
So now, I keep my cash low. It does the psychological trick of making me feel poor. Which in turn makes me more frugal when spending.
And more money invested is working for me and compounding in the long term.
What's your most effective psychological money trick to keep you on track?
Hey @grok, what share of UK tax revenue actually goes into capital investment in the UK versus welfare and international aid and other spend?
Latest figures, please.
'Taxes are high because we need to invest in Britain', says Angela Rayner

Waiting until you’re ready to start investing can be the most expensive mistake you ever make.
When you read this you realise how important it is to start ASAP.
Sitting through power cuts for most of today, and this chart explains exactly why.
The UK generates less electricity per person than we did in the 1970s 🤯
Many people see energy as the real currency of an economy. We're falling behind.
What needs to happen to change this?
Hey @grok, what’s the single highest-ROI move to increase income in 2026?
I don’t know a single rich person who isn’t happy for other people making money.
There’s a lesson it that.
You shouldn't have to sacrifice enjoying your life today just to build financial security for tomorrow.
6 months ago, I started a weekly newsletter called 'The Wealth Wire'.
It’s built for people exactly like me: Working a 9-5, trying to invest in their future, but refusing to live miserably in the present.
Everything has been built from scratch. Organic. No funding. No prior experience.
Today, I just crossed my first major milestone: 100 Subscribers.
I know it’s small compared to the giant accounts out there, but it means everything to me.
100 people have trusted a normal 9-5er to help them build wealth. If you’re one of them, thank you.
My goal? It’s probably delusional.
I want to build the largest platform in the UK for 9-5 workers looking to achieve financial freedom. This is just day one.
Every single week, I break down:
• The biggest financial lesson I’ve learned
• The market news you actually need to know
• One practical, wealth-building strategy to copy
• My favorite quote of the week
• The one main takeaway
Like me, this newsletter will evolve.
If you want to hear about something specific, I’m all ears.
To join the community and build wealth together, it’s 100% free. Plus, I’ll send you some free assets I built to help you get started today.

A reminder that the clocks go back in the UK tonight. Enjoy your extra hour in bed.
Unless you have young children, in which case breakfast will be required one hour earlier and refusal to comply will result in them repeatedly asking “is it breakfast time yet?” every 30 seconds until you finally give in.
Anthropic recently posted a H1 loss of over $80 billion.
Revenue is scaling quick but lack of commitments and customer concentration is causing concern.

Storm Boelo made us cancel plans with friends this weekend.

Is there a better cut than Ribeye?
I invested £4,000 into $VALL on the 6th October.
Since then, it’s dropped 3.74%.
Normally I’d get annoyed with myself here.
Questioning why I bought at the top.
Truth is, me along with everyone else didn’t know things were going to drop like they did.
And I have no plans on selling.
I invest today because my plan is to get as much invested as early as possible and let the market do the work.
In a couple decades time, when I may want to live off my investments. The dip of October 2026 will mean nothing.
If you’re not planning to sell, have you really lost anything?
Payday today. And it was a good one. £4,000 added to the S&S ISA.
Plan is to put it all into $VALL and let it sit there working for me for decades.
Determined to invest the full allowance this tax year ASAP 💪
