🇺🇸🇧🇷 Trump is now taking aim at BRAZIL'S ELECTION “They're the greatest cheaters of elections, although Brazil's doing a pretty good job also, aren't they? Did you see that one? That was not nice.” He made his feelings about the outcome pretty clear. Writer: Oliver

Since Sunday, Brazil is living through what December 2015 was for Venezuela. This is the most decisive moment since Brazil returned to democracy in 1985. Which way is Brazil going to go?

“Moraes signed the order barring Bolsonaro from leaving Brazil SEVEN MINUTES after Lula was declared the winner on Sunday night.”
Brazilian authorities and media are trying to find out where Flavio Bolsonaro is. Brazil's notorious authoritarian Judge Alexandre de Moraes -- before the votes were counted -- already had an order prepared to seize Bolsonaro's passports and bar him from leaving the country even though **he's been charged with no crime** (there are various pending financial investigations). Moraes signed the order barring Bolsonaro from leaving Brazil SEVEN MINUTES after Lula was declared the winner on Sunday night. A media outlet in Argentina this morning reported that Bolsonaro entered Argentina to fly to the US. His friends and allies deny this, but Flavio could easily just appear in Brazil or even by video and has not done so. Argentina is being sketchy, evasive and somewhat uncooperative with Brazil's federal police (Lula and Milei are obviously not allies). Whatever else is true, it is not exactly a sign of a healthy, normal or functioning democracy when the candidate who narrowly loses a presidential race -- and concedes defeat -- is suddenly barred from leaving the country by a Supreme Court Judge now globally notorious for censoring, imprisoning and otherwise persecuting his critics and opponents of Lula's government. It is also worth noting that Bolsonaro's party dominates the Senate, having run on a vow to impeach Moraes, and this is seen by many as a kind of leverage/hostage ploy by Moraes to cling to power.

For those who don't know, this person below is Brazil's Logan Paul, though without Logan's humility to know what he is and isn't.👇 He's a YouTuber who got extremely rich making clown and prank videos for young teenagers well into his 20s and 30s: zany faces, video games, profiteering off Brazil's poor with multiple videos ostentatiously showing off his and his brother's $20 million mansions, etc. etc. He's about to be 40 and this is still what he does. But at some point, he decided he aspired to more: he wasn't just a YouTube clown but a profound political thinker. Except he could only uncritically recite elite opinion. When anti-PT hatred prevailed, he made 1,000 videos about how Lula was a thief and crook and Dilma should be impeached and jailed. When elite opinion turned against Bolsonaro, he retracted all his prior views, apologized to Dilma and Lula, and now does trite anti-Bolsonaro clichés while calling for social media censorship. Basically, he's only capable of watching Globo and CNN and repeating what he hears, always aligned with the most superficial opinions of Brazil's power centers. Every country is plagued with these. Anyway, if my credibility really were what he claims here, he probably wouldn't be constantly writing and talking about me as he's been doing ; my work probably wouldn't be as influential; my reporting and columns probably wouldn't be featured in Brazil's largest newspaper, and I probably wouldn't be credited by all factions with breaking many of the most important stories of the last 6 years in Brazil, including about Moraes and the judiciary. Most importantly, he purports here to malign my viral tweet today about the Flavio/Moraes controversy, but you'll notice that he doesn't actually refute a single point I made. That's because he hasn't yet heard anything on his favorite Globo or CNN TV shows that would let him know what he should say in response. It's probably time to just go back your daily adolescent antics for 12-year-olds before your feelings get hurt:
If you still take Glenn Greenwald seriously, take it from a Brazilian: Glenn has completely abandoned reason, and his credibility in Brazil is in ruins. The cases he portrays as judicial persecution actually involve serious crimes committed by people who plotted a coup against Brazil’s democracy. That plot even included plans to assassinate President Lula, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, and others. Glenn is no longer the journalist he once was. He no longer cares about facts. He cares about one thing: desperately trying to convince himself and his audience that he has uncovered another earth-shattering scandal. He hasn’t. And he knows it. The judge Glenn keeps portraying as a dictator is no dictator. That doesn’t mean he’s above scrutiny. In fact, his ties to corrupt banker Daniel Vorcaro absolutely warrant investigation. But here’s what Glenn conveniently leaves out: Flávio Bolsonaro had even closer ties to that very same banker. We want BOTH to respond to justice. Glenn demands that the judge be investigated, yet somehow, when it comes to Flávio Bolsonaro, suddenly it’s all “political persecution” and “censorship.” The hypocrisy is breathtaking. He’s completely lost the plot. If you’re reading this from outside Brazil, understand one thing: Glenn Greenwald has burned through virtually every ounce of credibility he once had in this country. After four years of outrageous claims, shameless distortions, and an absolutely colossal mountain of bullshit, he’s become a walking parody of the journalist he used to be.

Every reputable journalist outside Brazil must read this before writing about Alexandre de Moraes’s latest target, Flávio Bolsonaro.
CRUCIAL FACTS ON THE FLAVIO BOLSONARO MATTER: It's not just Flavio Bolsonaro who fled Brazil to escape the tyrannical persecution of Alexandre de Moraes and the pro-Lula wing of the Supreme Court. There are dozens of Brazilian exiles who have done the same: dissident journalists, activists, bloggers, and politicians who all fled to avoid certain prison for political opposition. In most of these cases, Moraes has demanded the extradition of those who fled and whom he wants to imprison back in Brazil. But Moraes' extradition requests have been repeatedly denied by multiple countries and institutions on the grounds that these prosecutions are politically motivated or otherwise corrupted. Among those concluing this: Spain, Italy, INTERPOL, and even the US under Biden. Just today, Italy refused Brazil's demand to extradite a person named @edutagli, who was once a top aide to Moraes, but then fled to Italy after Moraes accused him of having been my source in a huge leak from Moraes' office that I obtained for reporting I did with @Folha in 2024. That massive leak enabled us to publish roughly 20 articles proving systemic abuses of power by Moraes against his political enemies: exactly the reason so many Brazilians, including Bolsonaro, know they can't get a fair trial in Brazil. Italy today refused to extradite the person accused of being our source on the grounds that the proceedings would be a farce because Moraes — as he so often does — wants to act as the supposed victim, investigator, and judge, and thus his demand falls well outside of Italy's extradition standards. Again, multiple countries have concluded the same, showing what a farce Brazil's once-respected judicial system has become under the Lula/Moraes regime. Moraes has overseen a system of political persecution masquerading as criminal justice that has been recognized as a sham by multiple countries that are not exactly Bolsonaro allies. Nobody in their right mind who is a political enemy of Moraes would remain in Brazil once if it is clear that he intends to imprison you, since he has proven that guilt is a foregone conclusion and he operates with no legal or constitutional limits of any kind. That is why asylum under international law exists: to protect those who cannot obtain justice in their own country because the justice system has been corrupted and commandeered for political persecution. Many people, such as Julian Assange, have needed that protection (which Lula cheered). Now people need it from Moraes in Brazil. That is sadly one of the main legacies of both Lula and Moraes over the last six years.

@FlavioBolsonaro registered 0 votes in 106 polling booths where Lula received 15,000 votes, literally 100% of the votes, according to @folha. In other words, in 106 polling booths Flavio received 0% and Lula 100%. The details are just barely starting to emerge…. Now, seriously, @LulaOficial for the good of Brazil you have to allow an independent examination with international observers of what happened during the Zanin Window. Refusing to do so will forever taint the reputation of Brazilian democracy. You shouldn’t let that happen.

Por que Flávio Bolsonaro está sendo perseguido? Porque ele teve quase 60 milhões de votos. Ele tem uma bancada muito expressiva no Senado e outra no Congresso, e poderia conseguir o impeachment de determinados ministros do STF.
