Customer: “How much for this wedding cake?”
Baker: “$800. It serves 100 people.”
Customer: “Can you make it for $500?”
Baker: “I’m sorry. The ingredients and labor alone cost more than that.”
Customer: “No problem. I understand.”
She left without arguing.
Two days later, another customer called the bakery.
Customer: “I need a wedding cake for 100 guests. My budget is $500.”
Baker: “I can make a smaller, simpler cake for that amount.”
Customer: “But I need it to serve everyone.”
Baker: “Then I can make a small decorated cake for the couple and provide plain cupcakes for the guests.”
Customer: “That sounds perfect.”
The baker prepared the order.

I’m 63 years old, and I’m about 20 years older than everyone else in my office.
Last September, our company hired a new manager. He was only 26.
During his first team meeting, he announced that we would be switching to a new software system. Everyone was expected to learn it within two weeks.
Then he turned toward me and said:
“Especially you. I know technology can be difficult for people your age, but I expect everyone to keep up.”
A few people laughed quietly.
I didn’t respond. I simply nodded.
The following Monday, he sent everyone a training manual and scheduled three online training sessions.
I attended every single one. I took notes, asked questions, and spent my evenings learning the new system.
Two weeks later, the entire department switched over.
On the first morning, nobody could access their accounts.
The manager spent nearly an hour trying to figure out what had gone wrong. Two younger employees called IT, but even they couldn’t resolve the problem.

Subject: URGENT APPEAL: Diplomatic Intervention Regarding 44 Ugandan Nationals Arbitrarily Detained in Zambia
Dear Honorable Ministers, Excellencies, and Respected Authorities,
We write to urgently request your immediate diplomatic intervention regarding the ongoing arbitrary detention of forty-four (44) Ugandan nationals who have been held in Zambia since August 6, 2026. At present, six (6) of these individuals are held at Kamwala Remand Prison in Lusaka, while thirty-eight (38) are detained at the Mwembeshi Correctional Facility.
Since their initial interception upon arrival at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA), these citizens have been held without formal communication from immigration, airport, or prison administration. Crucially, they have neither been presented before a court of law nor informed of any statutory charges against them. At the time of entry, all individuals held fully verified travel documentation, including return air tickets via Ethiopian Airlines (Booking Reference: KRNZJU) and confirmed reservations at the Carousel Hotel in Lusaka for August 6 through August 14, 2026.
This prolonged detention without due process and the cycle of unfulfilled legal assurances have inflicted severe psychological distress on the detainees and their families back home. We possess direct audio recordings from the detained individuals, as well as recordings of local counsel discussing the case, which we are fully prepared to submit to substantiate these claims. We respectfully urge the respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs, presidential offices, and consular authorities to establish high-level diplomatic contact, grant immediate consular access to both facilities, and facilitate the swift, lawful release of these 44 citizens if no formal charges exist.
