Nearly 200,000 Mass Effect fans have signed a petition calling on EA to “Save Mass Effect” following BioWare’s shutdown and the cancellation of Mass Effect 5. The petition asks EA to keep the franchise alive with proper funding, staffing and development time, or potentially license the IP to another studio if EA doesn’t want to make the next game itself. Even Commander Shepard’s voice actors are backing the fan effort. Jennifer Hale (FemShep) said she wants to imagine a future where fans, a studio and investors could work together to bring Mass Effect back. Mark Meer (MaleShep) also encouraged fans to “hold the line” and sign the petition.
