We Build…® Each Other Up At JC&A, we believe the best ideas grow when people feel encouraged, supported and empowered to make a difference. Early in her career, Maureen Rystrom shared with JC&A Founder & CEO Jay Calnan that there simply weren’t enough women in the room at industry events. His response was simple: “So what can we do as a company to help you change that?” That encouragement helped spark what would eventually become PLA! — and 15 years later, the room looks a lot different. As JC&A celebrates 30 years, it’s a powerful reminder that legacy isn’t only about what you build. It’s about who you encourage, whose ideas you support, the doors you open and the people you help bring into the room.

JC&A is proud to be a founding partner of PLA! The Professional Ladies Association, co-founded by our own Maureen Rystrom, and we were honored to sponsor yesterday’s annual PLA! for Ellie brunch. This annual fundraiser supporting the Ellie Fund is so near to our hearts, and we are incredibly grateful for the continued opportunity to support its mission of providing essential services to breast cancer patients — easing the stresses of everyday life so they can focus on family, recovery and healing. The event featured powerful, heartfelt conversations with three Ellie Fund recipients, led by the always-outstanding Candy O’Terry. After drying our eyes, we enjoyed a delicious brunch, connected with friends and colleagues, and raised our glasses in a toast to these brave women. We’re proud to support an event rooted in connection, compassion and women lifting one another up.

We Build…® Spooky Traditions Creepy, kooky, altogether spooky! Yesterday afternoon, JC&A celebrated our annual Spooktacular, inviting our little ghouls and goblins into our haunted office to show off their costumes, trick-or-treat, and take in a live magic show! The Annual Spooktacular is a fan favorite tradition here at JC&A, and #justanotherreason we’re considered a Best Place to Work.

JC&A is proud to build for cutting-edge clients like Madrigal Pharmaceuticals, a biopharmaceutical company focused on delivering novel therapeutics for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), formerly known as NASH — a serious form of fatty liver disease. Madrigal recently celebrated the ribbon cutting for its new, JC&A-built office in Waltham, MA! Local government officials and community partners, including the American Liver Foundation and MassBio, joined the Madrigal team to mark this exciting milestone and the company’s continued growth and commitment to the Greater Boston life sciences community. As part of the celebration, Madrigal employees also partnered with Life Science Cares Boston and STEAM Ahead to assemble 100 STEAM kits for local students — a great way to mark this new chapter while giving back to the community. That was the idea behind Team IMPACT when it was founded here at JC&A’s Quincy headquarters 15 years ago — to give children facing serious illness the chance to experience the strength, support and sense of belonging that comes from being part of a team. What started with a simple idea has grown into a nationwide movement, now reaching all 50 states, approaching 5,000 children matched and engaging hundreds of thousands of student-athletes along the way. Because the impact goes far beyond the child. It reaches families, coaches and student-athletes who show up for one another and form bonds that can last long after the season ends. Making a difference doesn’t always start with something big. Sometimes, it starts with one person. One team. One decision to show up. Fifteen years later, kids are still waiting to find their team. Thank you to everyone who came out, celebrated and helped make the night so special! Seeing our team together, surrounded by longtime clients, partners, friends and family, was such a powerful reminder of what JC&A has built over the last 30 years. We keep coming back to Jay’s message from the stage. Thirty years is about much more than the projects we have built. It is about purpose, relationships, integrity and accountability. It is about how we show up for one another, for our clients and partners, and for our communities. Those values have carried JC&A for 30 years, and they are what will carry us forward into the next 30. It was a great fall afternoon with plenty of laughs, a few big plays and maybe a few Oktoberfest beers too. We Build…® Life Sciences JC&A is proud to build for the most innovative companies in Life Sciences, including BPGBio, an AI-powered biopharmaceutical company based in Waltham, MA. Recently, JC&A partnered with Cresa (OPM), OTJ (Architect) and AVID (Engineer) to deliver a 70,000 SF, two-story Lab including research labs, a biobank, cryo freezers and supporting office space for BPGBio at 300 Third Ave. Congratulations to our client as they continue their outstanding research in their inspiring new space!
