Since October 13, we have been following the Inquest into the death of Regis Korchinski Paquet.
Yesterday, false claims were made against our members. We will not stand by and let their reputations, and the reputation of an entire profession, be tarnished by those seeking to rewrite history.
The claims made by Ms. Beals are not supported, in fact are contradicted, by the evidence. Over the next few days, counsel for our members and for the Toronto Police Association will vociferously cross examine Ms. Beals to ensure the truth is accurately reflected on the record.
To be clear, our members are not responsible for the death of Regis Korchinski Paquet.
Their actions have been reviewed multiple times by independent police oversight agencies, including the SIU, and they have consistently been cleared of any wrongdoing.
These facts must stand.

I’m disgusted by the shooting that took place outside the Sons of Jacob Synagogue in Belleville earlier this evening as Jewish community members gathered to mark Yom Kippur.
My thoughts are with the Jewish community in Belleville and across Ontario, who have every right to gather and worship safely and without fear. I expect that all those responsible are arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
My thoughts are also with the police officer who was shot, along with their family and loved ones. We owe an immense debt of gratitude to this brave officer and to all the first responders who acted so quickly to keep the community safe.

Context Matters: Viral “Boxing Encounter”
A short video of an interaction between two of our officers and a member of the public has circulated widely online. As with many viral clips, it does not capture how the encounter began or the circumstances officers were responding to.
In this video, @Officer_Ty provides some body-worn camera footage and explains the events leading up to the interaction that took place on July 29 in Brampton.
#BREAKING: Video obtained by CP24 shows a high-speed race involving a Mercedes and Lamborghini that ended in a serious multi-vehicle crash in Scarborough.
Four people are in hospital including an 11-month-old boy. The driver of the Mercedes is a 15-year-old girl.
