Really liked the way John framed this in the episode. There’s so much conversation in running right now about how many grams of carbs per hour you can take in during a marathon. 90, 120, 150+. And I think figuring out how much you can comfortably tolerate and use on race day absolutely matters. But carbs aren’t a magic ticket. You can’t fuel your way into fitness you haven’t built. The goal of race fueling is to give your body what it needs to express the fitness you spent months building in training. The better you fuel, the less likely you are to leave some of that fitness on the table. But the fitness still has to be there in the first place. You still have to do the training.
Went on the Life in Stride Podcast to chat everything marathon-related! We talk about training, fueling, periodization, recovery, and more - check it out! Pod links below. YT: youtube.com/watch?v=XErtGmeQ…
