The hard hitting questions the viewers are asking for from Eamon:
“Jay why are you so awesome and cool? Doesn’t Greg Norman suck?”
Eamon: "You have had several years of hearing people say, ‘Yasir Al-Rumayyan was going to outmaneuver you, and Greg Norman was going to outspend you, and Phil Mickelson would outsmart you.' And they're all roadkill in this sport right now. You're still standing. That has to give you a little bit of satisfaction.’”
Jay: [pause]
Tune in to Eamon Lynch Has Questions this Thursday at 6 p.m. ET on Golf Channel for Jay Monahan’s full answer.
It’s Jay’s final interview as @PGATour Commissioner 👀
Perez definitely nailed it with that last sentence... 😉
Victor Perez says the DP World Tour’s move to ban LIV players has ruffled feathers in the locker room.
He told me he now has a “pretty good idea” of what he’s doing next year.

🚨🗣️⛳️ JUST IN — LIV Golf Superstar Bryson DeChambeau has broken his silence on LIV Golf’s bankruptcy, revealing that the new league is “going to be done right” and “hopefully exists forever.” (Via @rajshamani Figuring Out Podcast)
“The point of it is that the team golf stuff, I was very excited about. I really care, and I still do care deeply about the team golf stuff. And the top co just wasn't really managed that effectively. And I know that now…”
“I didn't know that during the time. Our teams were doing very well. Like our teams, we generated almost $29 million last year in revenue. We had $21 million in cost just from payment of players and expenses and travel and everything.”
“So we made $8 million EBITDA last year. And the teams were doing well, but then all the player payments and everything got pushed down to the teams when they went bankrupt because the top co wasn't being run effectively.”
“Which, no fault to each other, it's just we thought that there was a lot more capital that was going to be at play with the guys that were funding it. Yeah. And it didn't work out…”
“But the business model makes a lot of sense. And we're actually working through that right now for this new model where it will make full financial sense. It's no funny business, no nothing. It's going to be done right. And this is going to be a league, hopefully, that exists forever. It's not combative.”
“We're not trying to compete against the tour. We want to be accretive. We want to bring value to anywhere and everywhere in the golf market across the world. And so, you know, that whole LIV situation was great. We had to get upfront payment because we had no real governance, you know. If we knew, like, they were going to control how this thing was run, like we had to get paid, you know.”
“And so we did. And then this time around, it's more the opposite. We're not really getting paid, but we do have the governance, you know, control.”
Are you excited for LIV Golf 2.0? @BrysonLegion

“Until the end of 2027”
The rug pull surely isn’t going to surprise anyone is it?
The Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia, DP World Tour and PGA Tour today announced an expanded partnership, extending the long-standing relationship between the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia and DP World Tour until the end of 2027.
The new agreement will see the three Tours continue to work together across player pathways and playing opportunities, tournament development, player services and broader commercial opportunities. pgatour.com/article/news/lat…

LIV Golf began the process to re-hire staff over the last few weeks and a significant number of key ex employees have held meetings with Ted Goldthorpe from BC Partners about employment in 2.0. Multiple sources have also indicated that an email was sent to former UK office staff to see if they were interested in working for the new entity.
LIV Golf has today announced former TaylorMade CEO Mark King as a senior advisor, who is expected “to recruit, build and serve as chairman of LIV Golf’s advisory board for the next era of the league.”
LIV Golf leadership have in recent weeks told players who are on the fence that they have “25-30 verbal commitments”. But it’s unclear how many, if any, have actually signed yet and my sourcing suggests that the true number will be considerably less. Relegated players have also already been approached about commitment for 2027.
Alongside recruitment, one of the biggest issues appears to be getting players to sign the Restructuring Support Agreements, which is essential to taking ownership of the company from the PIF. Several players have indicated to me they have no intention of doing so in the current form which could be another major problem for Scott O’Neil and BC Partners.
The list of players who have already gone public with their intention not to commit to the new league is as follows:
Jon Rahm (Captain of Legion XIII)
Tyrrell Hatton (Legion XIII)
Tom McKibbin (Legion XIII)
Ian Poulter (Co Captain of Majesticks)
Louis Oosthuizen (Captain of Southern Guards)
Branden Grace (Southern Guards)
David Puig (Fireballs)
Lucas Herbert (Ripper)
Graeme McDowell (OKGC)
Thomas Pieters (4 Aces)
Charles Howell (Crushers)
Abraham Ancer (Torque)
The list of players who have publicly committed is as follows:
Richard Bland (Cleeks)
Victor Perez (Cleeks)
Cameron Tringale (HyFlyers)
Brendan Steele (HyFlyers)
Ben Campbell (Range Goats)
The PIF have set a deadline of 30th October 2026 to determine whether they will allow BC Partners to continue the restructuring, or move towards formal liquidation.

NEW: LIV 2.0 lives for a few more days. 15 players interested outside of the Weil/ Reed Smith groups with some in those two groups expected to commit later in week.
BC RSA deadline is today but real date is Oct 30 per terms of PIF's bankruptcy loan:

LIV isn’t dead. They are re-hiring staff already. The DP World Tour leadership will be very aware of the threat it still poses
Soooo today no new announcements of players not commiting to LIV 2.0 and returning to the DPWT anymore? 😅
100% agree
LIV has uncovered all the untapped potential of golf on the one side. By being run exactly like a Saudi company - with all the non-saudi employees and surely non saudi-culture, this is the exact thing that needs to extinct with 2.0…
Per recently filed court documents, LIV Golf executives were paid out nearly $15 million in retention payments in the months leading up to the bankruptcy filing. These payments are intended to retain key employees throughout the restructuring period.
A lot of the ugly side of bankruptcy is generally written off as "ugly, but commonplace". Things like unpaid leases, payment lapses in contracts, things like that. It's all ugly, but not out of the norm for companies going through this process.
But for that to be happening while executives were taking 6, and in many instances 7 figure payments in addition to their regular salary, is concerning. For small businesses to go unpaid, for fan-forward features to be turned off, for concerts that people had paid for to be cancelled, that's all problematic.
And for all of that to happen while the outward messaging is one of understanding, of building a sustainable business, of wanting to make these small businesses whole so that they can continue working with them in the future.
I fully understand the need for some of this. If you lose the CEO, CFO, or president during a restructuring period, it could be an insurmountable setback. But some of the amounts are excessive, and some of the employees non-essential. In fact, there are employees that received large retention payments that I have on multiple occasions specifically named as people that hold LIV back from being as good as it could be.
LIV is great because it was fan-forward, it was different, they had a certain energy about them. That's what needs to come back out of this restructuring, if anything. Passionate employees working nonstop to build the best possible product for the fans, for the players, and for the game. Not this. This is Jay Monahan cutting tour cards while taking millions in bonuses and making "donations" to his own kids ritzy private school type stuff.
